Wales is facing really significant budget cuts in the coming years.
This chart shows how much both the resource and capital budget have changed year on year, accounting for inflation.
Resource spending pays for day-to-day running costs and public services, while capital spending invests in long-term assets.
In simple terms, capital spending will build you a hospital, resource spending funds the staff working in it every year.
(It's best to ignore the period around Covid because the big changes to consumption patterns out everything out of whack).
The Welsh resource budget it going down in real terms by 0.7% next year.
The future does look particularly grim when we look at the capital budget, which is set to fall in real terms in each of the next three years.
This would be the first sustained three-year reduction in the capital budget since the austerity period of the early 2010s.
This is what is severely limiting Wales' ability to make big capital investments. In simple terms it is going to be harder for Wales to build/improve/fix roads, schools and hospitals.
This is why it is doubly important Wales gets fairer treatment on funding - esp on our ability to borrow.
Right now, we have less borrowing powers than a council and a worse deal that Scotland.

A lot of "mental health issues" disappear when bills are paid, rent is secure, and the fridge is full. Peace is expensive. And pretending money doesn't affect mental health is privilege.

In the Budget HMRC will be granted powers to seize money directly from the bank accounts of people who fail to pay their taxes.
Does this include people like Nadhim Zahawi, Lord Bamford and all the other massive tax avoiders.
Or is it just for the little people as usual?

I came across this article by the titan of idiocy, @RobertJenrick, in the Telegraph, and it is bollocks: telegraph.co.uk/news/2026/10…
Jenrick says the average British worker renting outside London is "at least £2,000 worse off this year because of a decade of mass migration: £1,060 in lost pay and £940 in higher rent".
He blames immigrants for low pay, for high rents, even for low investment and slow productivity ("Cheap labour has displaced capital and investment"), and, as expected, he says fuck all about businesses that sit on their profits instead of investing, or about how the lack of unionised workplaces takes bargaining power away from workers. Why? Because the real answers point at the people who make money, big money.
The £1,060 comes from "Wages After the Wave", a paper written by @HM_Kucharski for @cambridgecircre, which Jenrick cites in the Telegraph.
Let's have a look at why this paper is not worth the electricity used to type it, in its own words.
Its £1,060 is for the typical British worker outside London only, set against a world where immigrant employment had "stayed at its 2015 level" (p. 40). For England as a whole the estimate is about £390 a year and "cannot be distinguished from zero" (p. 19). Kucharski himself told Invert that "if we were to have a hypothetical where there was zero migration since 2015, then the average wage in the UK would be £1,000 higher every single year", and also "there's actually no way of telling nationally whether or not migration has reduced wages or not". Watch it here: youtube.com/watch?v=VX0RVVtE…
Nor can the paper tell you why your pay is where it is. It compares each area "with other authorities in the same region in the same year" (p. 18), so everything that hit a whole region, "a recession, pandemic, regional pay trends", is taken out by design, and with it the energy crisis, COVID and inflation. That is why the paper says: "This does not mean that pay fell" (p. 18). In October 2022 inflation reached 11.1%, the highest in the official series that began in 1997, and gas and electricity prices did most to push it up that month, and in April to June 2022 real regular pay fell by 3.0%, "a record fall" (ONS). You cannot tell people they are losing money to immigration and leave all of that out.
Why leave London out? The paper says London's immigrants come more often from higher-income countries, but by its own count only "around one in four" National Insurance registrations in London came from those countries, and London took "about a third of registrations from everywhere else" (p. 24). So the paper leaves out of its headline a third of the arrivals from the very countries it blames, gets a positive estimate for London of about £720 a year (p. 24), and explains it away with a theory it calls "a hypothesis", after admitting that "the flow data do not show the outflow this account predicts" (p. 25).
How does immigration cause the loss? The paper asks itself "What is Driving the Cost?" and answers in 4 words: "We do not know." (p. 34). Who gains? "Some of what natives lose in pay may be gained by employers and consumers through higher profits or improved consumer surplus", and the paper "does not say that migration has imposed a cost on the British economy as a whole" (p. 7).

Over 500,000 people marched in France last weekend. The vast majority were unmasked and white. They were protesting against the cost of living and poor public services. Don't fall for the rightwing spin.

Reform UK's private police in Colchester have been given an official reprimand after they illegally handcuffed two teenage girls.
Operation Vanguard is a private security patrol employed at the cost of £150,000 to the taxpayer, to wander the streets of Braintree, Chelmsford and Colchester.
If we look a little further though, unsurprisingly, Reform UK have some serious questions to answer.
The BBC reported yesterday that two of the private police patrol, run by a firm called My Local Bobby, were officially rebuked by the police for illegally detaining these girls.
Essex Police said two offences of assault without injury were recorded and “learning requirements” had been “passed to the security staff employers”.
The £150,000 contract for Operation Vanguard was awarded without tender to My Local Bobby by Peter Harris, Reform leader of the council.
The goons handcuffed two teenagers they believed to be shoplifting, but these security staff have zero powers of detention under the law.
As you can see from Essex County Council's own website FAQs below, they have no powers at all.
It feels to me that the citizens of Essex should be aware of this fact and be prepared to stand up to these glorified store detectives.
FAQs state that they cannot arrest people, they have no powers of stop and search, no power to ask questions and absolutely zero enforcement powers.
They are literally performing 'citizens arrests' and being paid £150,000 by the council for it.
If those in Essex know this then it could easily open the council up to substantial lawsuits if their vigilantes carry on 'arresting' people illegally.
Reform UK are wasting public money again and setting themselves up to be sued. Again.

No media coverage on Professor Jason Arday cleared AGAIN of plagiarism while the weasel faced white supremacist who instigated the witch hunt against him is being feted at Oxford University for a talk on DEI backed by racist party Reform UK.
Reform Uk isn’t ’satisfied’ with another clearance of Arday so launching independent review of his appointment at Cambridge University but not Oxford University’s appointment of Dr Lola Salem who is on trial for possessing indecent images of children. She just happens to be Michael Gove’s ex girlfriend. Zero media outrage.
White power should be studied.

This man’s research is excellent, have a read
Those who whine about immigrant care workers, they also want to privatise social care provision.
4 daily visits of 1 hour, with £22.5 per hour, comes down to £2.7k per month. And that hourly rate is higher in larger cities. Almost 1 million people use publicly funded social care at home, and this 1 million people cannot afford to pay privately which is why free social care is means tested (but not in Scotland over a certain age).
They want White British pensioners and people with disabilities to pay £32k out of their own pocket.
They hate the British working class and they want to see it even more impoverished.
Important read

Immigrant care workers are not the ones who set the wages. The post I am quoting claims that they are the reason why wages in the care sector are so low, and cites the 28:1 wage ratio between Nigeria and the United Kingdom, as if it was some proof. It's not.
Wages are determined in the sector are determined by a combination of different funding streams. The service fees are set by local authorities, and the wages are determined by the service providers who are getting funded/paid by the local authories. Regardless of where they were born, workers have no say or influence in setting the wages.
Parrots will parrot the law of supply and demand. If that law worked, the labour market would be saturate, all vacancies filled and all employees would stay in their jobs, as there would be no better job available to them.
Is that the case? Fuck no. Data from England shows exactly the opposite. In June 2011, of the 357,869 employees whose ethnicity and nationality were recorded in the national care dataset, 307,575 (85.9%) were British and 280,786 (78.5%) were white British (Hussein, Manthorpe and Ismail, 2014); whilst the proportion of British staff remained between 82% and 83% each year from 2012/13 to 2016/17, the turnover rate for care workers rose from 28.4% to 33.8% and their vacancy rate never fell below 7.1% (Skills for Care, 2017).
In home care, the turnover rate amongst care workers reached 36.8% in 2016/17, whilst the vacancy rate stood at 10.4% (Skills for Care, 2017).
In Scotland, the picture is the same. In December 2016, 77% of employees in housing support and care at home were recorded as white, 2% as members of ethnic minorities and 21% as unknown (SSSC, 2017), which means that around 97% of staff whose ethnic background was recorded were white; in the same year, the vacancy rate in care at home stood at 7.8% of whole-time equivalent posts, against 5.5% across all care services, and 67% of care at home services with vacancies reported difficulties in filling them, mainly because there were too few applicants (Care Inspectorate and SSSC, 2018).
According to a 2017 survey of 82 care at home and housing support services, a third of employees leave every year (Scottish Care, 2017).

The wages of all were docked by half a days pay by the owners because the men had 'failed to complete their shift.'

Yes, The minimum wage is meant to be the lowest wage you can live on and afford housing. So, for everyone saying “it's not meant to be that,” yes, it is. That's why it's called the minimum wage.

The biggest benefits claimant in the UK.
They claim an eye watering £17,500,000,000 a year.
The same as 4.4m people on benefits.
How?
Because they claim ALL their costs, every wage, every oil rig, every tanker.
Completely nationalised, but the profits are Privatised.

The measures this idiot and his lot want to implement will have the following consequences for vulnerable white Brits:
If the proportion of non-British workers in the adult care sector were to be deported out within a year or so, approximately 27% of non-EU workers and between 5.5% and 6% of EU workers would be gone (a total of around 520,000 jobs), leaving only 67.5% of posts filled by British nationals (1,075,000), a figure that has already fallen by 130,000 since 2020/21 (Skills for Care, 2026).
Care homes would be forced to close or reduce their capacity, home care services would collapse, and a large number of older people and those with disabilities (mostly white British people, given the current demographic situation) would lose assistance with personal hygiene, eating, taking medication and getting around.
The resulting rise in falls, dehydration, infections and untreated illnesses would lead to an increase in admissions to hospital A&E departments, whilst family carers (among whom there is a disproportionately high proportion of women) would have to give up their jobs to provide unpaid care.
Within the NHS, this same scenario would result in the loss of 21% of non-British staff (around 325,000 out of a total of 1.54 million), including 36% of doctors and 30% of nursing staff (House of Commons Library, 2025).
Inpatient wards, A&E departments, operating theatres and GP surgeries would immediately face staff shortages, cancelled operations, longer waiting lists and higher rates of preventable deaths or complications, particularly amongst that very group of older people and those with chronic conditions whom social care services can no longer support.
The remaining staff would suffer from burnout and resign; the number of vacancies, which is already three times higher than in the wider economy, would soar; and the training system would be unable to replace thousands of doctors and nurses in a timely manner (at least 6 years for GPs, more for specialists, and 4 to 6 for nurses).
The combined consequences would be a sharp rise in mortality and morbidity, affecting above all white British working class pensioners and people with disabilities, an increase in public expenditure on emergency hospital care, as well as reduced labour market participation amongst carers of working age.
They literally hate the working class, and they are willing to sacrifice it. Pathetic.
