“This is an opportunity to rethink how interventions are being offered and how they’re communicated to students, so the onus is not on the struggling student,” Change the narrative: all kids are math kids. #nced edweek.org/teaching-learning…
I really appreciate @MichaelMaherPhD saying it is unacceptable for anyone to say “they are not a math person” this AM at @ncascd 2024. No one brags about not being about to read. As a state, we have to do something about the flat/lack of progress in student learning in math!

Also, I’m very appreciative of @MichaelMaherPhD for naming the chronic attendance issue in NC and across the nation. Now the work comes in figuring out how we solve this crisis! We have been working hard on this front all year at West! @ncascd

Great leaders constantly think about things that bother them in their organization and have a sense of urgency about fixing them—one-by-one. Self preservation does not drive their actions.

Do you know what makes students think math is fun? When they understand it. We don’t have to make math fun…it already is. We just need to find better ways to help students learn it. – at California, USA

Our Learning Hub + Spoke course has been a game-changer!
I was in a school last week where students take an elective where all they do is come up with projects that take the learning they are doing in core classes and apply it to the real world. There were some amazing cross-curricular, community-focused projects happening in there.
