I've described this novel to people as "Catholic." But it also contains ribaldry, swashbuckling, romance, and hatred. The protagonist's deeds are pretty dark—but at the same time, one gets a sense from his effusive, passionate speech of why he is attractive to more than one lady.

Mr. Crown-Weber is so very impressive. KEEP PLANNING is one of my favorite magazines and they continue to stun. What great work.

🙋‍♀️ guilty
I’m certain that others have noticed the popular “two epigraph” trend, in which the first is something esoteric, perhaps from poetry, philosophy, or poetry, and the second is current and quippy. I’m trying to figure out how it emerged, and what the underlying motivations are.
