When I got laid off from Microsoft, I got into a company in Lagos that felt paying 600k naira a month was doing me a favour. I had to take the offer to keep body and soul together. Was there for 6 months until I fell out with the MD and started looking out. That was when I started my training outfit but couldn't quite get traction. Anyway, after leaving this NGO, I spent another 5 months in the wilderness, literally. Ate rejections almost every other day. Was living on the goodwill of friends and relations. Basically wondering what to get out of life. An Antler rep came knocking at the time and was in the process of fast tracking my application to the Antler cohort at Kenya. Guess what? My passport had expired. Ran to go fast track my passport, after a few days emailed the partner but was told it was too late. I remember laying in my room laughing hysterically, mulling to myself, "who I offend?" Thankfully at that time, I applied to Andela and the process started for another 2 months. I got into Andela and my monthly salary was my previous annual salary. This trend continued in a subsequent company. Use am run one or two that year. But the point is, while I was enjoying this new reality, I asked myself, "why did you worry all those times?" In hindsight, there was no reason to. I should have just chilled for 5 months, enjoyed myself. But we are human and can only understand life in hindsight. As long as you believe this it will work out for you: EVERYTHING will turn out better than you expected, just stop worrying.
When it all works out, you'll be so pissed with yourself that you worried so much.

Really solid list. the eligibility details and direct application links make this genuinely useful.
If you are looking to travel the world for work, conferences, competitions, summits, volunteering, workshops, education, and more across Pakistan, Nigeria, SA, UAE, Nepal, India, Ghana, the UK, the US, and beyond. I spent hours during the weekend finding companies abroad that are actively hiring and funding and compiled them into one sheet. Application links, eligibility criteria have been added, so all you have to do is review the sheet and apply. drive.google.com/file/d/1zSJ…

Stop frying your brain with endless short form content. Read long, complicated, books. Especially novels. Cultivate the ability to think deeply. To focus for long periods. Stare into space and enjoy boredom. Do tasks without any media playing in the background. Resist the urge to reach for your phone every time you feel uncomfortable. Get used to being with uncomfortable emotions instead. Wonder and think about the questions you have instead of asking AI. Become deeply present with everyone around you. Your ability to focus, pay attention, to think deeply, is one of your most valuable assets. Reclaim the immense beauty of experiencing your life directly instead of living it through a screen.

I am about to cast a very important way the female brain operates. “The Female Recency Theory” A woman’s appreciation of a man’s gestures is inversely proportional to how long ago he made them. If you had to choose between starting a business for a woman and giving her gifts randomly over time, go for the latter. Women don’t know how to hold on to the emotional gratification of things you did a long time ago. They’re often more influenced by recent experiences. For instance, if you set up a business for her with ₦3 million in 2020, but from then until 2026, you suddenly became stingy, she might end up resenting you. You’d probably be better off spreading that ₦3 million across six years, consistently doing thoughtful things for her along the way. She’ll love you more for that. This is how 90% of them think.
This was so funny 😂 They say “Men Dey” 😂

this is insane. i genuinely don't understand why ambitious people aren't shown this lecture before their careers start consuming their entire lives. clayton christensen spent his career studying why successful companies collapse. in his final class, he asked students to apply the theory to themselves: if you keep allocating your time the same way, what life are you actually building? he had already seen the answer in his own harvard mba class. everyone looked successful at the fifth reunion; by the 10th, 15th, 20th, and 25th, many were unhappy, divorced, and living far from their children. work shows you the score immediately. close a sale, ship a product, finish a presentation, earn a promotion, get paid. an hour with your child may produce nothing you can measure today; it may take 20 years to understand what that hour built. so the next free hour goes back to work, one rational decision at a time. this is how people build lives they never planned: through hundreds of right decisions that lead in the wrong direction, day after day. money, titles, and headcount are easy to count. christensen believed a life should be measured by the people who became better because you were there. he died in 2020. one question remains: if someone saw only where your time, energy, and attention went this year, what would they think actually mattered to you? the full 19-minute lecture is in the video below.

Sad but the poop has successfully been rubbed all over handshake. It’s no coincidence with the timing of the mass removals on hedgehog and the time most people started tweeting(both legit and false info) The issue is not with bypassing restrictions or finding ways to make 💰 from platforms we don’t have access to, in fact it’s commendable the way we always adapt👏🏽 The problem starts when we start being loud and making noise about it publicly. It’s like we think these people are AI models and don’t have social media too. For example, I discuss/answer questions about AI training platforms to the best of my knowledge on this group I created, you’ll never see me talking about certain things on the TL cause it’s net negative for this “niche” Let’s do better, collectively or it’ll just continue to get worse🙏🏽❤️
I feel somewhat bad for the people who were silently making 💰 from handshake ai, my fellow Nigerians are about to troop in and rub poop all over the platform 😭
