To anybody who has followed my career and knows what I stand for and built my career on, it should go without saying that I would never authorize my music to be used for ANY political agenda or campaign. For those who are new here, this could have gone 2 ways. 1. The President or his team reach out and ask to license the song, I respond ‘no’ and you never know about it. 2. The President illegally uses the song without asking but still the public goes full retard and immediately assumes that a license was granted. Obviously it went the second way. I’ve built my career independently outside of any major system and have made it a point to not sacrifice my artistic integrity. I don’t have a publicist or anything so being forced in a situation like this and having to comment is ridiculous. I am looking at lawyers and handling this internally. Love yall. See you on the rest of the tour.

Distribution used to mean warehouses full of product, trucks, workers and unsold product coming back. Now it’s a button...for 20%?

one powerful study rule: consume something. then produce something. read a page → summarize it. watch a video → explain it. learn five phrases → use them in a story. input gives you material. retrieval teaches you to access it.

Your song didn’t flop. It did what most songs do. Have zero marketing.

There’s something so sophisticated about Ahmad Jamal’s playing. This is essential jazz.

Before deciding on where to distribute your music, it can be helpful to make a list of Pros and Cons. Each type of distribution has their own benefits and cons. For example, many true DIY distributors don't take a % - just an upfront fee. Meaning, if your music actually generates music, you don't need to worry about giving away a % to someone else (which can be meaningful depending on how much revenue is being generated). A con is that you don't receive the same level of direct support and service. So if you have metadata or release issues, you're at the mercy of the customer support ticket process. The benefits of a distribution deal can include 1 on 1 human support when those metadata issues arise and potential marketing support. The downside is you're giving away a % of the song while largely being responsible for working it / promoting it yourself. There's no right or wrong...each has their own value that makes sense for different people. It's just important to do your research!

The music business has always rewarded relationships over resumes. The ones who complain about that are usually the ones who haven't built either.

Y’all really think it’s a coincidence that they’re pushing data centers, Meta glasses, and Flock cameras all at the same time? I know literacy rates are crashing, but come on.
