Already into 120 kmph...
Forecast speaks of EC[ Extreme severity]
Lanka needs to be ready for indirect impacts.
Officially named as a cyclonic storm. Winds predicted to increase up to 120 kmph by Tuesday evening.
Might be at least 500km off us when it hits land, but the rains could be heavier tomorrow.
Unless we recover River/Road reservations and prevent flood plains /marshlands from being filled up, we are goofed.
Climate Change will not take excuses..
The thing has increased speed.. Whichever way it turns we will feel impact, one way or the other..
Let's brace ourselves..
One example: What causes millions of damage to Gampola, Gelioya, Akurana, and increasingly Nawalapitiya is the overflow of nearby local stream being invaded by concrete- not by the river.
Whole country pays for damage repair, while Govt protects the unauthorized construction.
Hills getting a dunking, probably not from the big one forming up far North East, but by the one going right across South India[99A].
Usually invests die off once overland, but not this one...
Srilanka need to figure out how not to lose GSP+in Jan 2028. linkedin.com/pulse/srilanka-… via @LinkedIn
SLR has been the only reason for lesser elephant deaths in the first 7 months of 2026. Only 3 deaths so far, compared to 21 last year. Incredible commitment by everyone in Railway right up to locomotive drivers. Kudos to Transport Ministry too for taking multiple steps.
This thing is Rasthiyadufying...
If it keeps going east a bit, may drag the rain clouds south of the border..
Hopefully few warm n sunny days...
till the next one that is....
While Govt is going overboard on Law and Order, the clear and present danger is elsewhere- from Climate Change.
Bring in tougher laws to secure river/road reservations .
Need an NBRO with a spine- balls too..
DMC needs to do way more than sending warnings.
Two systems- both within striking distance when it comes to possible impact from heavy rains.
Secure our river/road RESERVATIONS..!
This year's disaster rep may rival that of Dithwa..
The costs annual are higher than that of war.
Terror at Digana and its horrific aftermath led to the destruction of Yahapalanaya Govt.
Digana caused UNP[Sajith included] to lose its once strong base in the mountains.
It appears the party has now forgotten the Evil lords that instigated and literally led the Digana terror.
This one too into loitering mode..
A sign of danger..
Wont come this way but might pull the entire Indian Ocean right over us...
Action Stations time...
