#PPOD: Planetary Conjunction
What a beautiful conjunction of three planets over the Pacific: #Venus (the brightest), #Jupiter (second brightest, below), and #Mercury (far left) are all together glowing in the dusk. In the foreground, you can see a foggy valley in the Atacama desert, with clouds covering the ocean in the distance. Taken in 2017.

ALT Picture of the sky at dusk, looking out over a foggy back and distant clouds. Three bright spots in the sky form a triangle, with Venus in the upper right, Jupiter in the lower right, and Mercury to the left. The sky is deep blue at the top and then fades before turning to a dusky orange near the horizon.
Sheep’s Head and Beara from Mizen. Another beautiful #WestCork Summer fading away. Ah well. We had a good run.
Already seeing some serious fire 🔥 action in the sky even in light polluted Dublin - if you are hols somewhere nice and dark go outside and catch the #Persieds light show

They temporarily ran out of real swimmers so was delighted to be asked to talk about the life aquatic with @cronin_siobhan for her excellent @SouthernStarIRL swimming podcast. Enjoy!
Enjoyed my chat with @rte's @kenoshea about his 'hobby' - swimming - but HEY, he was the first man to ever swim from #Fastnet to #Crookhaven! He's very modest about his feats, calling himself 'a very ordinary swimmer' who just 'tries to push the distances'

And a big shout out to Brian O’Rourke of @BantryBayTours who made my latest swimming escapade possible and is a great skipper option for swimmers who want to go off the beaten track in #westcork
Jaysus that nitwit is coming for the lighthouses now this will not stand.

Getting some pushback on my suggestion yesterday that there are no recorded instances of it actually raining in #westcork - well - just for the haters - here’s a photo of Barleycove taken just moments ago.
Tis a n’awful summer alright. Luckily, most people don’t know that it *never* rains in #westcork

PSA - if you are heading anywhere near #bantry #westcork #beara or #kerry in august can highly recommend @BantryBayTours for a fantastic day out on the water whale 🐳 watching, fishing 🎣 or a trip out to Bull Rock lighthouse. Great people and great times - well worth booking. 👍
Life can change in a heartbeat / myself & buddy had 3k swim on Dutch beach - before we leave water we are in this human chain searching for a 16-yo boy who drowned 30ft from shore in zero-vis water with his 3 pals right next to him. 🚁 and lifeboat still searching. 💔 #rnli
