It's important not to get distracted by how funny it is that this gets community noted with facts. Rees-Mogg was Secretary of *State for Business* & *Minister for 'Brexit Opportunties'* despite being the least qualified person in the country for both roles. Except 'Lord' Frost.
These checks are an unnecessary act of self harm that will increase prices in an era of inflation. Brexit is an opportunity for deregulation not becoming a mini protectionist EU.

They are a legal requirement of the European Union Withdrawal Agreement Act, which was approved by UK parliament and voted for by Jacob Rees-Mogg himself.
