Grandparents are the uniting link between generations to transmit to the young the experience of life and faith. Therefore, I have decided to institute the World Day of Grandparents and the Elderly which will be held annually on the fourth Sunday of July.
Whyyyy when we ask our kids, “what do you want to be?”...we still expect answers like “doctor”, “teacher,” “paleontologist.”
What could change if we instead expected responses more along the lines of: “Kind.” “Curious.” “Joyful.”
How do serious Montessorians deal with #SantaClaus? It’s a story that teaches:
- fantasy
- extrinsic rewards
- that kids/people are wholly “good” or “bad”
- And one day reveals to kids that adults willfully deceive them
