Tonight, the American people sent a clear message — they want a politics that brings people together rather than divides them, and leaders who offer concrete solutions to the challenges they face. These results were only possible because outstanding candidates stepped forward in every region of the country — including in areas once considered long shots. They came from different backgrounds and represented a range of political perspectives, but were united by shared values, a belief in public service, and a commitment to putting the people of their districts and states first. We also owe a debt of gratitude to the thousands of election officials and volunteers from both parties who helped ensure a smooth election and carried out one of the most essential functions of our democracy. While this administration has another two years in office, our job now is to roll up our sleeves, make changes wherever we have the power to do so, prevent further damage, and lay the groundwork for the future.

Barack Obama at his last press briefing with reporters, 2017: "I have enjoyed working with all of you. That does not, of course, mean that I've enjoyed every story that you have filed, but that's the point of this relationship. You're not supposed to be sycophants. You're supposed to be skeptics. You're supposed to ask me tough questions. You're not supposed to be complimentary, but you're supposed to cast a critical eye on folks who hold enormous power."

Every human being has equal value. Every single one. At the United Nations General Assembly, I challenged a world that still decides whose lives deserve protection and whose suffering can be ignored. No race is superior. No people are disposable. Until we honour that truth, "everywhere is war" remains a warning we have failed to heed. What the world needs now is love, with the courage to confront injustice and defend our shared humanity. Love and a little kindness. For everyone.

*BRILLIANT* The French made a short film about what could happen after all immigrants would follow the ‘_white, angry old man’s_’ advice to go back where they came from.*

Love this!
I wouldn’t be where I am today without the love and support that @MichelleObama has poured into me over the years. Her story — from her South Side roots to the White House and beyond — is a central part of the Obama Presidential Center.

hell yes to this acceptance speech from Qween Jean, who just became the first openly trans person to ever win a Tony "We are here for the legacy of queer people. Trans people, we have to take up space. We have to shift the paradigm...the world right now is deeply, deeply combating so many ailments, and we know as a society that when we come together we can make real, permanent change." To the 12-year-old kid who doesn't fit in who might be watching this on a television in their bedroom with the volume turned low, come find your home at the Jellicle Ball. Ballroom is about chosen family. " —Zhailon Levingston and Bill Rauch after winning Best Direction for a Musical for Cats: The Jellicle Ball

The boss is speaking truth to power – calling out the nightmare at Delaney Hall. He’s shining a light on the suffering in this for-profit facility and Trump’s cruelty that’s tearing families apart. I‘ve met these detainees–our neighbors, small business owners, high school athletes. I met the mother ripped from her newborn American baby, denied proper medical care. This is a moral stain on our nation. @usatodayentertainment
