Engineers and artists: what is the biggest release day mistake you have actually seen? I will start: nobody checked that the artist name was spelled the same way on every platform until after it was live.

Your engineer is not your producer, your manager, or your A and R. All four jobs matter. Booking one and expecting the other three is how sessions go sideways and budgets get burned.

Your distributor is not your publisher. Your distributor puts the recording on platforms. Publishing is the composition side: registrations, licensing, collection. Confusing the two is how writers go unpaid on their own songs.

Nobody is coming to discover you. Discovery is a system now: consistent releases, clean profiles, real relationships, follow through. Artists who build the system stop depending on luck.

1. Metadata errors: artist name spelled differently across platforms, featured artists in the wrong fields, titles that do not match the audio.

3. Broken profile basics: dead links, empty bios, no contact path. Bookers decide in about 30 seconds, and a broken profile decides for them.

4 and 5. Credits and splits left vague, and no catalog sheet anywhere. A Release Check is $25, or $20 with code LAUNCH20 through Oct 31: ko-fi.com/kindgenius/link/LA…

I let AI handle drafting, organizing, and follow up tracking in my business. The music stays human. The admin around the music does not have to be, and my clients get the hours that admin used to eat.

A split sheet is one page. Not signing one has ended more music friendships than any bad review ever written. Agree on the splits while everybody still likes each other.

29 years engineering records. The wins do not come from the most expensive sessions. They come from the most prepared artists: files ready, parts rehearsed, decisions made before the clock starts.

Performance royalties, mechanical royalties, sync fees. Three different doors, three different collectors, three different registrations. Artists who learn which door pays what stop leaving money on tables they never see.
