Can someone please explain to me what is Tim Sweeney's obsession with Valve/Steam?? It feels like this guy is always taking shots at the company and Gabe doesn't even acknowledge him lol.

My boy Mr Matty is going through what I seem to go through, where his OPINION is being misconstrued as being a leak. Matty was merely speculating that there would be a new Gears trilogy. The internet is a clown world🤡
This is not a leak. At all. I literally beat the game. That is all this comes from. This is my prediction based upon the ending/how much time is left until Gears Of War 1. Please do not quote my speculation (especially when it's on my slop channel lmao)

As cool as it is to do game dev interviews, my Reviews with Game Devs sub series is way more fun and rewarding. Primarily because I get to bring old colleagues back together who haven't talked in years, sometimes decades. There are a number I have planned throughout 2027 (GTA 6, Intergalactic, TLOU S3, Metroid Ravenous, Fallout S3, Fallout 3 Remastered etc.)

So the new monetisation model from X is pretty crap, it’s even worse than before😅 I guess it’s to try and disincentivise rage bait and trolls, unsure if it will work

I just finished another playthrough of RE4 Remake and my god this game is a text book example of how to nail pacing in games, no matter how many times I play it, I never get bored. Intro - This is something most games get wrong, they are either too drawn out, they spoon feed you too much or introduce too many overcomplicated systems. RE4's is perfect Dynamics In The Gameplay - Before the gameplay loop starts to get tedious they switch it up e.g the Cabin Fight, Minecart Ride, Ashley's Section, Krauser Fights, Verdugo Fight, The Regeneradors etc. Short Gameplay Length: The game isn't too long, too many games chuck in so much filler to extend the length of the game and it ends up detracting from the experience, this game is tightly woven together and is also designed with replayability in mind. If I could only recommend 1 game for someone to play in their life it would be RE4 Remake.

As someone who is extremely extroverted and loves meeting new people, a person like me would have a field day in a place like LA Think about how many connections I have in the game industry despite living in the most remote country on earth. Moral of the story, don't ever let your current location be a barrier, maximise whatever that city/country offers and minimize what it doesn't

One thing I can tell you from interviewing so many Valve devs over the years (Including one recently with an engineer that was critical to the launch of Steam) is that until you see a trailer for Half-Life 3, don't believe anything. HL3 has stopped and started so many times, I would advise you to not get your hopes up until you see an actual trailer.
Seems like Half-Life X (long rumored to be Half Life 3) has just been accidentally confirmed by a Valve employee during a game dev talk. Pretty wild to think we may see HL3 for real, in the near future.

I expect my Top 10 games of all time list to change come November when OOT and GTA 6 are released. I imagine OOT Remake will make the 3D/OG version obsolete therefore replacing it in my list just like what happened with RE4. The big question is GTA 6, will it be the ultimate achievement of a studio firing on all cylinders with a budget and skill level no one else can ever hope to replicate.

When my mum died of a brain tumor in 2004, I played Metroid Prime 1 week in, week out for 9 months straight as a coping mechanism. So 22 years later to be doing a livestream show with @ZoidCTF a senior engineer on the original Metroid Prime, a man whose work got me through one of the most difficult times in my life is pretty surreal. Much love Zoid!!

Designers at Rockstar have to be extremely proficient at programming. 80-90% of their jobs is spent programming with the remaining 10% being spent on actual design. Pretty wild to think about!

Man, this one hits hard, the harsh realities of game development are coming home to roost. No studio in Sony, Microsoft, EA and Ubisoft's camp are safe now, period, no matter who they are.

Devs dont have to worry about layoffs for the most part at Rockstar. The question for devs is can you meet the expectations required because you are surrounded by devs who are the best of the best. I imagine imposter syndrome would rear it's ugly head there, especially for junior devs.

So Project Helix is rumored to cost between $1200-$1800USD😆 This thing is DOA, only super hardcore gamers would buy the thing, at this point you might as well delay it until this component crisis is over. (via Fortune)
