Negotiations between the Universities Academic Staff Union (UASU) and the government have officially collapsed, causing the union to reject a new 3% salary increment offer and vow to intensify the ongoing nationwide strike. In an Inter-Ministerial Committee meeting, the government reduced its global financial allocation for the 2025–2029 Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) from KSh 12 billion to KSh 11 billion.
