A baseball player on the @Brewers is Jake Bauers. One of my German ancestors, Jacob Bauer, came to Milwaukee in the 1850s. Several children were born there before the family moved to Illinois. Not to be confused with this Jack Bauer

Much discourse about casting James Bond in 2005. It is not true that Daniel Craig was always known to be the successor to Pierce Brosnan. Documentation here, from the 007 website I began in 1994. web.archive.org/web/20061009…
Replying to @Stunt_ManMik3
I literally have the receipts. I was tracking this on my 007 website at the time, it's up on archive.org Daniel Craig was not mentioned as a potential James Bond until September 2005.

Can't really get excited about the James Bond casting and screentests, if there's nothing to indicate they are even able to write significant Bond stories today. IMHO Bond is over since many, many years. (lifelong fan who even wrote a book on Bond) What to you think?

In Memory of Randolph “Randy” Mantooth Randy Goes on one last run with his lifelong friend and co-star Kevin Tighe inside Squad 51. On October 17th, a Flag Ceremony was held at Station 127 (Station 51) as Randy left the station for the last time. Rest easy, Johnny. 📷:Los Angeles County Fire Museum

I was taking photos today at historic Oak Woods Cemetery on the south side of Chicago. A staff member asked people to move their cars. I picked another spot. I was engrossed in what I was doing but heard clicking. Someone was having a horse-drawn carriage funeral (stock photo below, not mine). This one had 2 white horses followed by 50 cars, not sure who passed.

Ditka dies on Friday, White Sox are reverse swept on Saturday, the Bears lay an egg in Lambeau Sunday, and now the Pope has cancer. Hard not to take personally

I took a tour today of Soldier Field in Chicago (set up for Fire soccer, not @ Bears). It was a beautiful 86 degree day, got some great lakefront photos from the Skyline deck. Indiana visible today.

Owning cats will make it look like you don't clean up after yourself. Why has there been an envelope in the middle of the living room floor for the past two months, you ask? Because it's his favorite envelope, that's why

This was my cat Meggie, who I lost the same day that Steve Jobs died, on this day in 2011. She was born the day the Berlin Wall fell in 1989, so she was nearly 22 (18 in this photo though). #cats

Take a gander at these vintage book covers. 📚 Some of our late-19th- and early-20th-century books have decorated spines and cloth binding, making them easily recognizable in our collections. Do you recognize any of the titles?
