to idiots, writers are capitalists for saying 'leave my work where i posted it & maybe toss me a public thank you' but artists are just trying to make a living by (rightfully!! cannot stress enough how much i support fan artists) offering commissions, paywalling their work, etc.

not to put too much on fan creators in any space but its kinda funny seeing people who create nothing crashing out over not getting access to fic for a few weeks but then saying 'the people who do 100% of the labor and make 100% of the product for free are the real capitalists.'

i really hate this developing idea that you don't owe anybody anything and that all social contracts are ridiculous. you can't behave purely in self-interest and then expect generosity from others. if you want to be a part of a community, you have to value the people within it.

i actually could just print off the fan art i save from with actual home printer. i could take the files to staples to save on shipping. i'd rather toss my fave artists a few bucks even though they don't own the characters and according to yall dont 'deserve' engagement! easy!
