Hi, I’m Kris. I’m mostly known for playing @mimu_gloves, as part of an artistic journey to overcome a disabling physical impairment (I have CP). I began this journey w/ the help of @Drake_Music & @imogenheap. This piece reflects on my love for Japan 🙏🏻youtu.be/OQlbisUYXh4
I will write a blog post to expand, but as a lot of music ed peeps follow me here: I was in a SEN/D school last week in a very unsafe (for me) situation. There’s been loads of these over the years, but this one really took the piss 🧵
I’m not going to be part of the experiment any more. The school is YEARS away from being able to welcome Disabled music leaders safely, and I’ve got better things to do than put myself in harms way

I’ve known and worked with @attitudetweets for many years and they are AMAZING, but the venues who use their name as a plaster over their own inequality actually disgusts me. Anecdotally, I also have reason to believe that many venues are simply lying about working w/ AIE
Disabled man thrown out of a gig for “appearing” drunk. Do better @TheO2 - what really grates me as that venues always play the “we work with @attitudetweets” as if that helps their case? AIE are not your scapegoat 🤬 bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c238…

It's International Disabled People's Day and frankly I don't really know what to say except if you know a disabled person you owe them a) cake and b) wine
Hopefully an unlikely nightmare, but one angle I don’t see being discussed: the bill passes, but NHS red tape prevents any actual action, leading to the private sector swooping in and it becomes an option only for the wealthy (see also medical cannabis) #AssistedDying
The goal in my mind is to focus on the best possible safeguarding for Disabled and vulnerable people. Assisted dying is a vital right in my view. Both things are essential x
Got a big chunk of unfollows this weekend. I get it. It’s an emotional issue. I’m reading, learning but so far no one has changed my mind: framing this as if the goal is to legally “cull” Disabled people - is in my mind - likely to cause more harm than good. YMMV x
A society that doesn’t allow a compassionate end in the face of terminal illness is an affront to common decency.
A society that doesn’t allow Disabled people to live safely and freely is an affront to common decency.
Both are true. Both demand action and compassion
Genuine Q: when people say we need better palliative care before assisted dying, what are they hoping for? My experience of pain management is of a vague and inexact science, that causes at least as many problems as it solves - what am I missing?

Assisted suicide seems a deliberately unkind term designed to inflame not promote debate. Suicide is ending your life when you are not dying. Assisted dying is about ending the life of someone who is dying.
My opinion shouldn’t matter to you, but yes, I am in favour of the bill. My dear friend @rockinpaddy writes eloquently as to why he’s not x #AssistedDying
Prt2/2 We won't all agree but I hope my blog explains at least why I think its a no, not at this time and not in this way, decission. #assistustolive If it can't be right it must be wrong xx Eres me blog: rockinpaddy.wordpress.com/20…

Not to be dramatic but there are certain couples that look so good/cute together. Not just physically, but like… energetically? They look like they’ve loved each other for 1000 lifetimes, idk🥹. It’s so cute. 10/10.
It’s very complex, and I’m open and trying to learn about the arguments against, but I absolutely want to be able to legally choose to end my life on my terms if (when?) illness/disease offers only a slow and painful end #AssistedDyingBill
I’d also suggest that framing the narrative as being about the government wanting to “legally murder Disabled people” is dangerous and irresponsible, however emotionally charged the topic #AssistedDyingBill
