“Right now, the Party in Opposition, if you appoint a Leader of Opposition from outside their control, you will have created a second power center. This Bill should not be passed. It is a recipe for disaster for this country. We are grappling with so many challenges, the environment isn’t conducive for Party building already, don’t add other complex situation within what is already a difficult situation. Don’t create two power centers,” remarked @mugishamuntu . Photo by @Parliament_Ug
The Alliance for National Transformation @TheAllianceUG has asked Parliament to reject the Administration of Parliament Amendment Bill, 2024, saying it is full of hypocrisy & is being used as a tool by influential people to settle political scores, which will end up ruining the reputation of Parliament. The appeal was made today, by Alice Alaso, National Coordinator, ANT while appearing before the Legal & Parliamentary Affairs Committee, to present the Party’s views on the Bill that was recently tabled by Richard Lumu (Mityana South), in which he is seeking elections for Leader of Opposition by MPs, instead of having such a leader imposed on MPs by political parties.
