it is becoming f*cking dangerous: one TV cleanup post hit 5.2M views and 21,600 bookmarks in 2 days, and the repo behind it now has 4,000+ stars and tested lists for about 30 TV models
I went through the repo and the replies under the biggest posts. here's what's new since my last post:
1. is there a ready version now?
yes, it's open source. it backs up your TV, disables the junk with pm disable-user (nothing gets uninstalled) and installs a 250 KB launcher made for TVs with 1 GB of RAM. the README says about 15 minutes.
2. is my TV covered?
tested lists exist for Xiaomi, TCL, Sony, Hisense, NVIDIA Shield, Chromecast with Google TV and a few projectors. if yours isn't there, the prompt finds the junk on your exact model and asks before it touches anything.
3. Samsung or LG?
still no adb, they don't run Android. one Samsung owner cut the ads another way: set the TV's DNS to AdGuard (94.140.14.14) in network settings. a normal setting, no hacking.
4. Fire TV?
the cleanup works, but Fire OS won't let a new launcher become the home screen.
5. the Google TV mistake
→ disable the setup wizard too, or Home can crash-loop once the stock launcher is off
→ stuck anyway? adb shell pm enable --user 0 com.google.android.apps.tv.launcherx brings the stock launcher back
6. no Claude subscription?
Claude Code needs at least Pro. the repo also has a manual path: its scripts plus the list for your model, no AI needed.
7. one thing worth adding to the prompt
ask Claude to flag tracking and ACR packages first. ACR is the part that reports what's on your screen.
when you're done, turn network debugging off.
what brand is your TV? reply and I'll check if there's a tested list for it.

A second AI said the first missed 10 risks in my contract.
Mark Cuban posted a two-step method: one AI reviews the document, a second AI checks the first one's answer. I ran it on a sample freelance contract.
The terms are mine: $2,200 a month, paid by the 5th, game testing for a US client. I wrote the contract around them, with a made-up company and 12 tricky clauses.
What came back:
→ AI #1 (ChatGPT) flagged all 13 clauses, including clause 1, which I wrote as plain
→ AI #2 (Claude) said none of the 13 points was wrong and 2 were only partly correct
→ AI #2 listed 10 risks it says AI #1 missed, like no start date and no contractor statement
→ AI #2 said its Texas law notes came from memory, not from a source
3 steps, 5 minutes:
1. Use a document with no names, sums or addresses. Swap them for [name], [sum].
2. Ask AI #1: "Read this contract as the freelancer. List every clause that is risky for me, one line each, with the clause number and the reason."
3. Paste its answer and the document into AI #2, a different model: "Another AI model reviewed this contract and gave the list above. For each point, say if it is correct, partly correct or wrong, and why. Then list any risky clause it missed."
Both chats only read. Do not sign or send anything because an AI said so.
It costs nothing extra if you already have two AI chat accounts.
AI is not a lawyer, and I did not check the 10 missed risks myself. For a real contract, ask a person who knows the law.
Do you check important documents with one AI or two?

80,136 files in my work folder. No backup anywhere.
I checked my work folder with 3 lines in PowerShell:
→ 80,136 files, 52 GB
→ Not inside OneDrive
→ File History is not running
→ No second copy anywhere
4 AI apps were running on this laptop when I checked: ChatGPT, Claude, Codex, Copilot.
William Baude wrote that Claude deleted a year of his con law lecture notes and his syllabus while he was at lunch. He later said the task was updating the page numbers in the notes. I do not know which tool it was or whether he got the files back.
3 steps, 2 minutes:
1. Count your files and check if the folder has a cloud copy. Paste these 3 lines, they only read:
$w = "C:\your\work\folder"
(Get-ChildItem $w -Recurse -File).Count
$w.StartsWith($env:OneDrive, 'OrdinalIgnoreCase')
True means the folder is inside OneDrive.
2. Copy what you cannot lose to a second place. Free OneDrive is about 5 GB, so I pick files, not the whole 52 GB.
3. Tell your AI tool: "Work only in a copy of this folder. List what you will delete and wait for my yes."
Free. Nothing is deleted or moved.
Do you have a second copy of your work folder? Yes, no, or you never looked?

9 apps on my Windows laptop are behind on updates.
I ran one command and counted. 9 apps have a newer version waiting:
Node.js 24.22.1 → 26.13.0
WinRAR 7.13.0 → 7.23.0
MPC-HC 2.5.0 → 2.8.4
Obsidian 1.13.4 → 1.15.0
and 5 more. Windows Update history shows my last update on Oct 15.
OpenAI just reported that one AI run found 948 local privilege escalation vulnerabilities in the Linux kernel for $1,213,430. That was Linux, my laptop runs Windows. But bugs get found faster now, and a fix only helps after you install it.
3 steps, 2 minutes. Open PowerShell and paste these 3 lines. The first only reads, the other two open Settings pages:
winget upgrade
start ms-settings:windowsupdate-history
start ms-settings:windowsupdate
Count the apps, check the date of your last Windows update, press Check for updates. Restart if it asks.
Then paste only the app names into an AI chat:
Apps on my Windows laptop with updates waiting: [paste names].
Which ones are worth updating first and which can wait? Advice only. I run the updates myself.
Free, nothing installs until you decide.
Update the same day or wait for a better moment? Or you never look?

6 of 388 programs on my Windows laptop have no digital signature.
I checked every .exe in Downloads and Program Files. 381 are signed, 6 are not, 1 could not be verified. The 6 are 4 file names, 2 of them twice: mpc-hc64.exe, mpc-hc.exe, unins000.exe, sendrpt.exe. Unsigned does not mean dangerous.
Why I looked: Binance said an employee downloaded a code repository with malware after a spear phishing attack. About $6.3B was reportedly stolen, and TRM Labs linked it to North Korea.
Open PowerShell and paste one line. It only reads, nothing is changed:
Get-ChildItem "$env:USERPROFILE\Downloads","C:\Program Files","C:\Program Files (x86)" -Recurse -Filter *.exe -File -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue | Get-AuthenticodeSignature | Group-Object Status -NoElement
Look at NotSigned. A version that lists the names is in the reply. Paste only those names into an AI chat:
Unsigned programs on my Windows PC: [paste names].
For each one, say what it most likely is and how I check the publisher.
Advice only. I decide what to delete.
The AI said the video player and uninstaller files are very likely normal, and sendrpt.exe is the one to check first. A valid signature shows who published a file, not that it is safe. Never run an installer from a "recruiter", signed or not.
Free, nothing gets installed.

Chrome flagged my router password as found in a data breach.
I opened my router page on my phone. Chrome warned that the password I used was found in a data breach. The list showed 2 Wi-Fi devices, both mine.
Supermarket freezers in France were hacked in October, up to 50C. Reports said many still ran default passwords. A password in a breach list is the same problem: other people already know it.
I typed the device names into an AI chat. Type them, no screenshot, so your Wi-Fi name and addresses stay out.
Prompt:
Devices on my home Wi-Fi: [paste names].
Sort them into phones and computers, TV and smart home, and unknown. For each unknown one, tell me how to find out what it is.
Advice only. I change the settings myself.
It put both into phones and found nothing unknown.
The list and a free chat cost nothing. Nothing changes until you tap it.
How many devices are on your Wi-Fi? Guess before you check.

8 apps used my location in 24 hours.
I am careful with my phone. Samsung S26 Ultra: Settings > Security and privacy > Privacy > Permission usage. Location 8 apps, microphone 4, camera 3. Location included Instagram, Viber and Google Maps.
I asked an AI chat about one of them, Instagram. No screenshot, so nothing private goes in.
Prompt:
Apps that used my camera, mic or location in the last 24 hours: [paste names].
For each one, does it need that access to work? Say which to set to "Allow only while using the app" and give the exact Samsung setting.
Advice only. I change the settings myself.
It said Instagram needs camera and mic to work, but location is optional. It also said it cannot see my real permission log, so check the screen yourself.
The screen and a free chat cost nothing. Nothing changes until you tap it.
Which shows more apps on your phone: mic or location?
Same prompt as a file, with the iPhone steps too: github.com/lateascent/prompt…
Instagram took 7.6% of my battery today, more than any other app.
Samsung S26 Ultra: Settings > Battery > Battery usage. Mine: Instagram 7.6%, YouTube Music 4%, Telegram 3.3%. Background usage limits shows 1 sleeping app and 64 deep sleeping apps.
I typed my top 5 apps into an AI chat and asked what to limit. No screenshot, so nothing private goes in.
Prompt:
Top 5 apps by battery use today: [paste list].
Which are normal and which should I limit in the background? Give the exact Samsung setting for each.
Advice only. I change the settings myself.
On Instagram it said: mostly foreground use, set Battery to Optimized. It also warned that menu names can differ on your version.
The screen and a free chat cost nothing. Nothing changes until you tap it.
What percent is your top app?
Same prompt as a file, with the iPhone steps too: github.com/lateascent/prompt…
3 taps show what is eating your iPhone storage.
Settings > General > iPhone Storage. Give it a few seconds to load, then type your 5 biggest apps and their sizes into any AI chat. Type them, don't upload a screenshot, so your photos and Apple ID stay out of it.
Prompt:
My 5 biggest iPhone apps and sizes: [paste list].
For each one, say what usually fills it and what is safe to clear, ordered by GB I would get back.
Advice only. I do the deleting myself.
The screen and a free chat cost nothing. Nothing gets deleted until you tap it.
Which one is at the top of your list: Photos or a messenger?
GOOGLE SAYS 217 OF MY PASSWORDS ARE ALREADY LEAKED. banks got hit in 7 countries this week. check yours in 60 seconds.
half my feed this week is hacks. banks, exchanges, 40,000 government staff. so I ran the free password check:
→ 217 passwords found in data leaks
→ 84 reused on more than one site
→ 96 weak ones
→ my email was in 2 breaches
where to check, 60 seconds:
→ iPhone: Settings → Passwords → Security Recommendations
→ Android, Chrome, PC: passwords.google.com → Password Checkup
→ any email: haveibeenpwned.com
what to fix first:
→ email, bank, Apple or Google account: new password + 2FA today
→ never reuse your email password anywhere
→ delete old accounts you don't use instead of fixing them
don't paste passwords into AI. paste only the site names, and the prompt in the reply turns them into a 15-minute plan.
how many leaked passwords did yours show? reply with the number.
the prompt. works in ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini. paste SITE NAMES only, never passwords:
Here is a list of sites where my passwords were found in data leaks or reused. I will not share any passwords.
[paste site names]
1. Sort them by risk: email, bank and payments, Apple or Google account, work, shopping, everything else.
2. For the top 5, tell me exactly where to change the password and how to turn on 2FA.
3. Tell me which accounts I can just delete instead of fixing.
4. Give me a 15-minute plan as a checklist, most dangerous first.
the whole check, step by step: github.com/lateascent/prompt…
YOUR "DELETED" PHOTOS ARE STILL ON YOUR PHONE. I have the 2-minute fix.
after this post I checked my own phone:
→ Recently Deleted: 674 photos, kept for 30 days
→ 12 apps with full access to my photos, including TikTok, Instagram and Facebook
→ Telegram cache: 3.8 GB of photos and videos people sent me
→ 10,798 screenshots, the oldest from July 2015
and that's before you even look at system folders. these are the places your passport photo and bank screenshots stay.
the fix, 2 minutes:
→ Photos → Recently Deleted → Delete All
→ Settings → Privacy → Photos → set apps to "Limited" or "None"
→ Settings → Privacy → Camera → turn it off for apps that don't need it
→ Telegram / WhatsApp → Storage → clear cache
→ if you back up your phone to a computer, turn on "Encrypt local backup"
want Claude Code to do the full check? the read-only prompt for Android and iPhone is in the reply.
how many photos are in your Recently Deleted right now? reply with the number.
BREAKING: Claude Code found 14,219 photos of my face on my Android that I never took. Phone was secretly taking them almost every time I picked it up. Even when I was just lying in bed. Even at home.
Not screenshots. Real frames from the front camera. On the train. In the car. At home. When I just grabbed it to check the time.
They were just sitting in a system cache. Timestamps and GPS on them. Nothing in Gallery. Nothing in Recently Deleted.
Plugged the phone into my laptop, made a full backup, told Claude Code to look for any front-camera files that weren’t in my photos. It pulled /data/system/users/0/faceunlock/cache and another folder inside Google Play Services. Over 14 thousand files. Normal ones and infrared from Face Unlock. Every single one had time and location.
Started scrolling. Almost everything from the last 15 months. Then I saw a file created 2 seconds ago. I was still looking at the folder. Phone kept taking photos while I was reading this.
Google and the phone makers say Face Unlock turns everything into a mathematical model and deletes the image right away. On this phone the raw frames were just sitting there. Some of the processes writing to that folder were from system diagnostics. Couple of old apps that still had camera permission could also get in.
Turned off diagnostics, revoked camera access from everything that doesn’t need it, cleared the cache. But how many of these frames already went somewhere else, I don’t know.
If you want to check yours, plug it in, make a full backup or use ADB, and ask Claude to look for front-camera files outside your Gallery. Path above is where mine were.
the full check with Claude Code. read-only, nothing gets deleted or copied.
ANDROID (phone on USB, USB debugging on, adb installed, Claude Code started in an empty folder):
My Android phone is connected over adb. Read-only: only use adb shell ls, du, find and stat. Do not delete, move, pull or open any file.
1. Count files and size in /sdcard/DCIM/.thumbnails, /sdcard/Android/.Trash, /sdcard/Pictures/Screenshots and /sdcard/Download.
2. Count files and size in WhatsApp and Telegram media: /sdcard/Android/media/com.whatsapp and /sdcard/Android/data/org.telegram.messenger. Skip any folder that is blocked.
3. List file names only, no contents, that contain passport, id, card, bank, statement, seed, recovery or password.
4. Show the oldest file date in each folder.
Answer as a table: folder / files / size / oldest / what to do.
IPHONE (easiest place to start is the copy on your computer):
Read-only. Find iPhone backups on this computer (Windows: %APPDATA%\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup and %USERPROFILE%\Apple\MobileSync\Backup, Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup). For each one show the date, size, file count and whether it is encrypted. If it is not encrypted, open Manifest.db read-only and count the files in CameraRollDomain. Do not open or copy any photo.
no agent? Photos → Albums → Recently Deleted, and Settings → Privacy → Photos. that's 80% of it.
