36% of #startups founded on Carta in 2025 had a solo founder. In 2024 it was 31%.
Over 10 years, that share has doubled.
AI didn’t remove the need for a #cofounder. It removed the need for one just to write the code.
You still need someone who sells. Often, that’s you.

Character.AI filed for Chapter 11 this week. Disney is the opening bidder for its assets at $20M.
In 2024, Google licensed its tech and hired its founders. The company kept the users, the lawsuits and the bills.
A reverse acquihire is an exit for the team, not the company.

Zetwerk’s Rs 5,012 Cr #IPO was 27% subscribed by mid day 2.
FY26: Rs 15,739 Cr revenue, Rs 1,606 Cr net loss.
Private rounds asked: how big can this get?
Public markets ask: when does it stop losing money?
Indian books often fill on the last day. Monday is the real test.

Before: Google showed ten links and you picked one.
Now: in a 1,100 person experiment, forcing searches into AI Mode cut searches that led to an external site by 18.8 points.
Satisfaction went down, not up.
Clicks are shrinking. The few left go to whoever the answer names.

Freshworks is buying Torii, a tool that tracks company AI usage down to the token and sets budget limits per team.
Two years ago the problem was too many SaaS seats.
Now it is too many tokens nobody owns.
Every new cost line eventually becomes a startup that governs it.

your link-in-bio shouldn't charge you for being a creator.
so I built DeluluBio.link 💜
analytics. themes. embeds. contact forms. product links. all free.
no paywalls. just your links, your way.

Character.AI peaked at 28M monthly users.
Google paid $2.7B in 2024 to hire its founders and license the tech.
This week it filed for Chapter 11, with Disney buying some assets for $20M.
The test was never usage.
It was who stays to build and who pays.

1/ Indian startups raised ~$236M across 25 deals this week, up about 92% from the week before.
The headline looks like a recovery.
The breakdown tells a different story for early founders.

Most engineer-founders measure validation by signups.
The ones who win measure month two.
Stripe Atlas data: top-decile solo founders kept ~30% of first-month customers into the next month. The median kept 8%.

Replit just made OpenAI the default model for Replit Agent. Claude is still an option.
Sounds like a settings change. It isn’t.
Most users never touch the default.
Whoever owns the default owns the volume.
If you build on one model provider, build the switch now.

Unless you operated large systems, it’s hard to appreciate both how they work, and how they break.
Twitter won’t go down with a big b, and it won’t go down irreparable.
Things will work fine for a while - thanks to no new deploys! Then, here’s what’s likely to happen (cont’d):

We don’t actually use any AI, we just say that everything is fraud and haven’t been proven wrong yet.

New startups building for India but incorporating outside India is a disturbing trend.
While even now startups are largely funded by foreign VCs, there is wealth creation in India through Founders, Angels, & ESOPs. Also, the taxes on realized capital gains benefit India. 1/3
