Stop calling it a video game crash. That implies that it's like some sort of uncontrollable force of the market. You can't have a crash (at least in the U.S.) when the market was up 4% yoy in 2023. That's the opposite of a crash! This is execs mimicking growth by cutting costs.

To no surprise, that $100K Super Mario sale that helped create the artificial price jump in retro gaming over the past 5 years or so apparently didn't actually happen, as admitted by WATA's founder under court deposition.
Of course...
The $100,000 Super Mario Bros. sale that started the sealed game market bubble could have been a sham, according to court documents.

If you don’t support Netanyahu, if you are disgusted by the countless lifeless children being pulled out of the rubble, if you actually believe in upholding human rights and international law—vote no on a blank check to Netanyahu's genocide.

Equal parts irreverent and heartfelt, this is an underappreciated gem in the PS2 library.

As a way to encourage the younger generation to try out programming, most of the keywords in C# have been permanently renamed.
This should increase the amount of younger game developers coming the next few years.

ALT C# code written in Unity: On the left side it reads: public float rizz; private bool IsSus() { try { if(rizz > vibe) { return true; } else { return false; } } catch(Exception e) { Debug.LogError(e.Message); throw; } } On the right side it reads: high_key period rizz; low_key fax IsSus() { bet { vibe_check(rizz ratios vibe) { its_giving no_cap; } big_yikes { its_giving cap; } } red_flag(Exception e) { Debug.LogError(e.Message); yeet; } }

The reason why I am independent and advocate a life-long career is because for me, "creating things" is no longer a job. That's why there is no retirement. Creating things is living. One more thing. In the game industry, there are very few people who have succeeded in becoming independent from a major game production studio, whether in Japan or abroad. Even eight years ago, when I started my own company, I was opposed by everyone, including my peers, colleagues, and relatives, who said, "It will never work!”. They said it was impossible without the financial and organizational strength of a company. However, someone must prove that that is an old-fashioned way of thinking. Young creators must be given freedom of choice. This is one of the reasons why I continue to "create things”.
