📒 Hardware Acceleration: Nexa Node on an FPGA
In the last article we met Blitz, the card that takes signature checking off the CPU. We closed with a bigger question: what happens when you put the whole node inside an FPGA?
We don’t like running a node on our main desktop machine, especially when it is bogging down all cores, the fans are blazing and the office is heating up. We want to run it on a tiny little node that we plug into the router and just SSH into when we need to.
That is the long game of this series: building a microchip for cryptocurrency, a microchip that can do the same thing as your software node, but is faster, more reliable, uses less energy, and can be built for a fraction of the cost.
That chip is still ahead of us, but there are a lot of useful things we can do directly in hardware in the meantime.

My little $40 FPGA can beat your big bad GPU. Prove me wrong and win 0.1 BTC.
I designed a proof-of-work called BRAM-ring. A $40 Efinix Tz170 does 37,100 H/s on it. The best anyone has managed on a GPU is 1,493 H/s, on a $499 RTX 3070. Per dollar the little chip wins by more than 100×, and I don't think any GPU, CPU, NPU or other off-the-shelf hardware can close that gap.
The bounty:
• 0.1 BTC to the first person who shows non-FPGA hardware at or above 371 H/s per dollar
• 0.01 BTC every time someone beats my GPU or CPU kernel by 10% (bit-exact, measured on my machine, the bar ratchets)
• 0.01 BTC for a real shortcut in the function: half the work per hash, counted not timed
How to claim: reply to this tweet with the full 40-character git commit hash of your code and the prize you're claiming. Your code can stay private until the deadline; the hash fixes your place in line.
Deadline: 4 November 2026, 23:59 Pacific.
Rules: git.nodelabs.ca/nexapow/bram…
Code (make prove checks C, AVX2, CUDA and Verilog against the same 8 vectors): git.nodelabs.ca/nexapow/bram…

But the Bitcoin Unlimited (an independent group) did find an inflation bug. medium.com/@awemany/600-micr…
We were surprised that it did not result in a loss of confidence in Core (and we received no bounty for responsible disclosure). This is the sad reality for white hat security researchers.
No engineer or project is bug free. But as I read the events of the liquid hack, it appears that the fix was already pushed to a public repo, just not deployed. This was extremely irresponsible behavior when AI exists, especially in a centralized coin where all that was needed was to update a few nodes run by known individuals. It suggests the same hubris as the 600us event.

In this post, Vitalik has realized the advantages of the UTXO model and non-turing complete modification of blockchain state, and is proposing to identify and optimize the simpler contracts, like I've been saying they will for 4 years now.
But what if it wasn't just the simpler contracts? What if EVERY contract inherently had that property? @NexaMoney FTW

📒 Nexa Full-Node 2.2.0.0: The Final Checkpoint Before The Tailstorm
We are excited to present Nexa Full-Node 2.2.0.0, an important milestone and the final checkpoint before the upcoming hard-fork that brings the Tailstorm integration to mainnet.
This is a preparatory release that includes the new Tailstorm source code for the major protocol upgrade, and it prepares the network for the next release.
Everyone who runs a Nexa Full-Node, whether stand-alone, integrated with a service, or as a wallet back-end: please update your client to the latest version.
If you hold any assets on the full-node wallet, we always advise you to securely back up your wallet.dat file before installing an upgrade.

Looks like Saylor bought 5k BTC and took down 150m STRC Solid move no need to raise cash and extended duration but reducing STRC, hope he cuts the rate a bit too.

📒 NEXA Development Roadmap 2026–27
The Nexa Team is excited to introduce the Nexa Development Roadmap for 2026 and part of 2027. The roadmap includes long-anticipated blockchain improvements and important infrastructure projects coming together.
It is not limited to these developments, and there are plenty of side projects and ongoing works in parallel. The roadmap provides a strong signal on where Nexa is heading this year and early next.
The coming two years are set to have major releases. A lot of complex developments have been taking place for a while. Blockchain projects and ecosystem applications are organized into different streams due to their focus on the blockchain protocol or focus on business-facing use-cases.
There are two main areas of development. Blockchain projects and applications, both of which serve to enable Nexa to handle 21st-century finance. This is completing the original plans for the coin and are important to growing strength within the Nexa network moving forward.
The main projects and dApps are listed below 👇
