An evening of sparklers in the garden with Theo and a walk in the dark to watch the skies lighting up around us. Gone home with Daddy now and I am cuddled up with the cats happy to close the door on the noise. The air will be misty and smell of smoke in the morning.

A half term treat for our boy today. @RSPB_BurtonMere was looking at its autumnal best so after spotting a few birds, it was time for skipping!

I’m not sure how many of my friends will remember #Aberfan. I was 11 years old and remember vividly my mum saying, “they’ll call it the Black Death.” So many young innocent lives lost, as the rain poured ceaselessly, much as it does today. 60 years and memories still so raw.

Had a lovely time @NortonPriory Museum & Gardens Autumn Festival today. Came away with some delicious cheeses and a bagful of quinces. Theo was a helper with the apple pressing too but not so good at croquet!

I’ve had flu and shingles jabs today and I’m aching all over. Picked up new specs and I’m adjusting to the new prescription. Took Theo swimming - “watch me Granny without my armbands! I can sw….., glug, glug.” I’ve just collapsed in front of Sam & Ade Go Birding. And relax….

Sitting in the garden with a cup of tea to plan my day after an early morning swim. It appears that the Cosmos has gone berserk and is now eating the garden furniture.

Since its foundation in 1824 the bravery of Royal National Lifeboat Institution volunteers has saved more than 146,700 lives at sea. Hundreds of those volunteers have died attempting to save others. They are the best of us. Any person or organisation questioning their actions or loyalty to this country should be corrected and ostracised. Anyone can drown, but no one should. rnli.org/support-us
