I want to thank the families for coming before the Justice Committee to provide very detailed evidence. It was extremely helpful in understanding this part of the sentencing bill. I commend their courage & grace campaigning for many years on behalf of Charlotte & Lisa. Thank you

Families urge tougher sentences in ‘no-body’ murder cases trib.al/h0XxOrf
So proud to be another step closer to introducing Charlottes Law to Northern Ireland ❤️ thank you to the Justice Committee for their genuine interest and compassion for the bill and also for their assurances that it will be as strong as it can be when introduced next year ⚖️
The families of two women whose remains have never been found have appeared before the Justice Committee as they continue to fight to change the law here.
Charlotte's Law named after Charlotte Murray who was murdered by her ex-fiancee in Co Tyrone 2012 will mean tougher sentences for killers who refuse to give up the body and a reduction for those who eventually reveal the location of where they are buried.

🚨🗣NEW: Father and sister of Lisa Dorrian - ‘We are closer now than we've ever been’
🎤🎥Chief Reporter @jamesgould23 speaking to Lisa Dorrian’s sister, Joanne, and her father John.
They were at Stormont today as Justice Minister @naomi_long brought forward the Sentencing Bill.
The Bill will introduce “Charlotte’s Law”, which aims to reduce the trauma experienced by families of murder victims in so-called “no body” cases.
It would create a statutory aggravator for failing to disclose the location of a victim’s remains, as well as new sentence reductions for post-sentence disclosures.
Lisa, aged 25, went missing from a caravan park in Co Down in February 2005.
Her body has never been found.
A string of recent arrests has given the family renewed hope, and Joanne welcomed the opportunity to be at Stormont today to speak about the Bill.

💔NEW: 'All I want is my sister’s body back for a Christian burial. I regret Lisa never got to meet my children.'
🎤Chief Reporter @jamesgould23 speaking to Joanne Dorrian, sister of Lisa Dorrian.
⚖️It comes as new legislation, which would see longer jail terms for killers who refuse to disclose the location of their victims’ bodies, is set to be introduced to the Assembly.
The Sentencing Bill will also create ‘Charlotte’s Law’, aimed at reducing the trauma experienced by families in so-called “no body” murder cases.
The law is named after Charlotte Murray, who was murdered by her former partner Johnny Miller. Ms Murray went missing in 2012 and her body has never been found.
It is now almost 21 years since 25-year-old Lisa was last seen alive on Sunday 27 February 2005 at a party in Ballyhalbert Caravan Park.
Police believe she was murdered that night or in the early hours of the following morning.
Joanne says Charlotte and Lisa would be extremely proud of the law, and that the families feel the same way.
She also thanked Justice Minister @naomi_long and her Department for bringing the legislation to this stage and for their engagement throughout.
The Bill will create a statutory aggravator for failing to disclose the location of a victim’s remains, along with new provisions around sentence reductions for post-sentence disclosures.

We are so pleased to see this announcement. Charlottes Law really does have the potential to find Charlotte and to help us find Lisa when we get a conviction. A worlds first piece of legislation ❤️ an honour to be a part of it ❤️ #CharlottesLaw #letsfindlisa
A new law which would see longer time in jail for killers who refuse to disclose where they have hidden their victims’ bodies will shortly be introduced to the Assembly, Justice Minister Naomi Long has said.
