I remember joining the Statesman almost 11 (!!) years ago and thinking it was a stepping stone to something bigger. But I’m glad I realized how valuable community journalism is, and the value I could bring to it as someone who grew up in Idaho. Not sure where to put that now.

Listen I'll own a bias because I think Nicole is just the coolest but it really blows to see McClatchy willingly give up a reporter in her hometown market who has worked her way up for more than a decade. Who does this benefit? Because it's not the readers I can tell you that.
