We‘re done here!
Mastodon is still active: photog.social/@libravatar - even if we hardly post stuff, we do react and interact!
@libravatar is alive and kicking. We grow steadily in our user base and we see more sites using our service to proxy requests (to Gravatar) to increase privacy.
photog.social/@libravatar/11…
I don't like to brag and we're definitely far away from a 6 digit number of users, but today in the night we reached 26K users. Back in 2019 we had less than 10K users.
I'm so glad that Libravatar is still growing - thanks to all the users out there!
In case anyone is wondering. Libravatar.org is currently down for maintenance - we'll let you know, once we're fully operational again.
Release 1.7.0 is online now: libravatar.org/
- webp and mpo image upload support
- Finally migrated to @djangoproject 4.1
- (Experimental) animated GIF support
- Improved test cases in CI (powered by @gitlab)
Thanks to our sponsors!
Not much going on these days at @libravatar - it‘s still PTO time. We hope everyone had a good summer vacation and had the chance to disconnect and refresh!
Good news folks!
$ curl -sI --http2 libravatar.org/ | grep "HTTP/2"
HTTP/2 200
If you don't know what that means, you probably don't care. #http2

We're back online after a successful upgrade! If you experience any difficulties, please reach out to us!
Good and bad news: We're going to upgrade our systems today, but we're going to have some downtime that isn't avoidable. We're planning to start at 13:00 UTC and will post again, once everything is up'n'running again.
Due to CWE-601 (cwe.mitre.org/data/definitio…) and some requests that hint us it's actively used, we decided to mitigate the problem and prohibit redirects to external sites.
See also the updated API page: wiki.libravatar.org/api/
If you're using the feature to redirect (with the default parameter) and you're experiencing any issues with your site, please contact (libravatar.org/contact/) us.
