every year i forget to give my labor notes pro tip but here it is for next time: on thursday night i instacart groceries from aldi to my room. i don't wait in a line or pay for overpriced food all weekend. i also don't eat a hot meal for 3 days but that's neither here nor there

what "takes up" capacity:
-projects that feel bad or meaningless
-random tasks that don't build towards a bigger goal
what builds capacity:
-projects that feel purposeful
-projects that appeal to a wider base beyond the usual suspects
doing exciting things and new campaigns that engage broader groups builds capacity, it doesn't indiscriminately absorb capacity. "capacity" is not a finite resource, it's highly flexible and context-specific.

Electing Zohran Mamdani is just the beginning. To actually win his agenda against billionaire opposition, we need to build popular power — permanent grassroots organizations that can mobilize tens of thousands to have his back when the fight gets real. jacobin.com/2025/08/zohran-b…

It’s hard to overstate how unusual this is. UFCW has built itself around having a dues base of passive, high-turnover grocery workers not invested enough in the union to try and change things. But that seems like it might be changing…
