…thinking very deeply about the differences in akiren’s relationship with akechi between vanilla and royal. I don’t entirely have the words for it but it’s… definitely more antagonistic and volatile in vanilla. But it then leads into a “was there something I could have done?”

vanilla akiren doesn’t really know akechi whereas royal does. They both care, but there’s a strangeness to the way Akiren cares in vanilla that’s less longing and more missed connection wistful. Which I think akechi would hate. It feels more like pity.

Some of vanilla’s feelings bleed into some akechi scenes that were kept in royal. Akiren feels significantly harsher in those toward akechi. “Oh god this guy again” for the scene at Leblanc with futaba. I don’t have a conclusion really, just thoughts

I love going “akechi mention” whenever murder is brought up in persona 5. He’s not even always related to whatever is happening. Additionally, also asking where akechi is when I want someone dead.

Like early shuake is very much: I do not trust you and you do not trust me. Unfortunately I am learning I kind of like you a lot though. Or at least, I like that dynamic. I think canonically it can be read several different ways.
