This statement from Liz Kendall confirms that LHA will not increase in 2025/26 and it sounds like it won't be revisited at the Spending Review in the Spring. This actively costs poorer private renters, and will work against the govts goals to end homelessness and food bank use.

🚨 The new government committed to end the need for emergency food. With 9.3 MILLION people facing hunger and hardship, today’s Budget was a major moment to start delivering this. 👀 So, what was said? #Budget2024

Chancellor confirms continuing with the planned cuts to disability benefits set out under the previous government. If done in the same way means 400,000 disabled people miss out on £400 support per month. Has almost no effect on employment. Bad news. #AutumnBudget

Ahead of tomorrow’s Budget, a movement has been growing. A movement to end an injustice that has left many homeless young people stuck in a world where getting a job leaves them unable to afford the essentials. Learn more about this issue: bit.ly/4e0NlGd 1/2

I did worry a bit when I saw 13,508mph winds. I even thought about bringing in the garden furniture.

➡️This is the highest level of hunger and hardship ever recorded in the UK. ➡️More than HALF of people facing hunger and hardship live in a disabled family. ➡️The majority of people facing hunger and hardship are from a family where someone is working.
“People are turning to food banks because they don’t have enough money to live on." A record 9.3 million people in the UK are facing “hunger and hardship”, including three million children, new @TrussellUK analysis has revealed 👇 bigissue.com/news/social-jus…

Important new research published by @TrussellUK today showing that 9.3 million people are facing hunger and hardship across the UK. Without action, levels of hunger and hardship increase and affect 425,000 more people by 2026/27. theguardian.com/society/2024…

This is not inevitable. The research outlines ten policy options that could be implemented which could mean millions fewer people would face hunger and hardship. The Government needs to take urgent action to ensure that everyone can afford the essentials. trussell.org.uk/news-and-res…

Really interesting and important role here @TrussellUK. If you're interesting in doing policy development work on either employment support or disability and sickness benefits (or know someone who would be) please take a look/share. trussell.org.uk/jobs/policy-…

This looks brilliant! I can see this swallowing a lot of my time, even though I have no idea when it would ever be useful for me.

The latest @trusselltrust data showing our social security system isn't protecting people from hunger and hardship. Almost half of people on Universal Credit had run out of food in the past month. Urgent action is needed to prevent pushing people to the doors of food banks.
My @guardian story: UK’s poorest households face another winter of hardship, charities warn, as @TrussellTrust research shows two-thirds of working families on universal credit are struggling to afford food and energy theguardian.com/society/arti…

🚨 BREAKING: The Household Support Fund has been extended! This extension will provide some relief to families on the lowest incomes this winter. People have told us that this support has meant that they can pay for energy bills, transport or buy essentials, like bedding.

We expected this but rising energy bills will pile more pressure on families already facing hunger, hardship & debt. And on foodbanks already at breaking point. Government must use their first Budget to protect those facing the worst hardship. We need urgent action.
BREAKING: Households will be facing higher energy bills this winter as Ofgem raises its price cap by 10% trib.al/Rx0iR33 📺 Sky 501, Virgin 602, Freeview 233 and YouTube
