People in Paraguay are now dragging politicians on the streets and trashing them. The President resigned in fear. This came as Ueno Bank, used by 60 percent of Paraguay's adult population, suspended operations due to insolvency, freezing the accounts of 3 million people.

O New York Times teve a coragem de fazer algo que nenhum local teve: Eles convidaram o Flávio para uma entrevista sem censuras, deixaram ele falar e, na reportagem completa, apontaram todos os absurdos logo depois de cada citação e, ainda, pintaram ele de fujão e a família de conspiracionista. E ainda expuseram todas as acusações que ele, o irmão e o pai enfrentam. De cabo, aproveitaram pra lembrar aos leitores que o pai dele está preso por (com todas as letras) tentar dar um golpe de Estado após perder as eleições para Lula, e que ele alimentou teorias da conspiração sobre o sistema eleitoral. Num truque de mestre, toda a reportagem foi iniciada e conduzida por um plano de fundo de crítica ao Trump e a forma como ele está lidando com a situação. Quase num lembrete ao leitor de que “esse é o tipo de coisa que o presidente permite que aconteça com a ajuda do governo dos EUA”. 🚨 PARAGUAY 🇵🇾 RIOTS IN THE STREETS AFTER 3 MILLION PEOPLE GOT LOCKED OUT OF THEIR OWN MONEY The central bank shut down Ueno Bank, one of the biggest banks in the country. 3 million customers. About 60% of all adults in Paraguay. Salaries. Pensions. Savings. FROZEN. No app. No cards. No ATMs. Even $380 million of the state pension fund is stuck inside. Covid locked people inside their homes. This locked them out of their own money. Then it turned POLITICAL. President Santiago Peña, the right-wing friend of Milei and Kast, was a SHAREHOLDER in Ueno's holding company until 2025. And the man he picked to run the central bank in 2023 used to run Ueno. Within 24 hours: • the central bank chief signed his resignation after Peña asked for it • Ueno's CEO handed himself in to police, 5 more executives DETAINED • crowds in central Asunción demanding Peña's exit • the opposition pushing to impeach him The last time Paraguay's banks broke, in 1995, more than half of them went down.
