When I was younger, I was genuinely enthusiastic about participating in road and beach clean-up drives. It felt meaningful. Over time, my perspective has changed. Constantly cleaning public spaces only shifts the burden onto responsible citizens, while those who litter face no consequences. Why should some people repeatedly clean the mess created by others who choose to be careless and uncivilised? We should be enforcing strict fines and punishment for littering. Civic sense cannot be outsourced to volunteers.
