This is potentially one of the worst outbreaks since the ‘Third Pandemic’ which started in 1855 & lasted until 1960 killing well over 12 million people. Obviously with international travel and wars happening this is a huge issue for humanity globally. Whilst we have antibiotics not on the scale that would be needed nor affordable in many countries. Americans are now at risk of being infected as any third world country would without adequate supplies of medicines & protective equipment. The FDA is not fit for service nor is the administration. 55 years ago today, I won $4,000 at a tournament and became the first woman athlete to earn $100,000 in prize money in a single year. At the time, $100,000 felt like a milestone. But it was about so much more than the money. It was about proving what was possible, and opening doors for the generations to follow. Today, professional tennis players represent 10 of the 20 highest-paid women athletes. We have come so far. But progress doesn’t happen by itself. We have to keep pushing, keep breaking barriers, and keep opening doors. We’ve come a long way. And we’re not done yet.
