I am a Bible translator. I spent five years of my life doing practically nothing but translating the Bible and biblical commentaries. Ironically, that is precisely why I am now an atheist. The deeper I studied the Bible, the less convincing its claims became. My disbelief wasn't born of ignorance of scripture, but of intimate familiarity with it.

Experiment: ask an AI what religion it would pick if it were religious. My prediction is Buddhism. Try it and tell me if I'm right.

Oppressive theology survives by turning its victims into security guards for the system that indoctrinated them.

Lina, you don't know the honest truth. In the military, you got your POGs... Person Other than a Grunt. Guys who don't shoot anything. You need them, because you need all sorts of specialties, but you can't trust their big-picture judgement, because the overall mission of the military is shootin' people, and they don't do that. In civilization, we have POMs. Person Other than a Maker. Dudes what don't build things. You might need them. But you shouldn't take them too seriously, or listen to them too much, because on some fundamental level, they are never going to get it. They are never going to understand. The fundamental task of civilization is making things, and POMs don't do that. "This is just a mash-up of existing technology" is the most POM-like typing you could ever hope to see. It's a tell that someone has never done a significant engineering project in a technical role. Experienced engineers not only understand differently, we eat, sleep and breathe the basic reality that 99% of engineering challenges are "get mechanism to work with other mechanism". Without breaking, shaking itself apart or blowing up. Every basic scientific principle behind the internal combustion automobile was understood by the ancient Greeks and Romans. And yet they were not only unable to harness those principles to make a primitive steam-powered automobile, they were unable to conceive of the very idea, because their ability to implement and integrate wasn't advanced enough. If you look at everything that Elon Musk has ever done, every company he has ever built, every technology he has ever brought to market, none of it was a purely new invention. It was ALL taking stuff that already kinda worked, and making it do new things. And not just do them, but do them so well that they actually became practical. SpaceX didn't invent the rocket. They made it reusable. Tesla didn't invent the electric motor or the battery. They made them practical for ground transportation. Neurallink didn't invent electrical nerve interfaces. They made them control a computer UI. This shit is incredibly hard. If you try to use the known principle of a cold-gas thruster to make a car fly, you're going to crash and blow up a lot. You're going to have to make mistakes, and fix them, one by one, until you run out of mistakes and the thing flies. Real engineers, real makers, know that this is what the word engineering means. POMs don't get it. Lina doesn't understand what she saw. She thinks she saw a publicity stunt to impress yokels. No. That was a publicity stunt to impress engineers. It wasn't a demonstration of a flying car at all. It was a demonstration of the engineering capabilities of team. It was a flex. "Look," they said, "we can reify the Gernsback continuum. Give us your silliest, low-effort science fiction meme tech, and give us enough time, and we'll make it real." The purpose of making a flying car isn't to let you do a jetpack leap over traffic. It's to learn all the little implementation details and balancing tradeoffs and gotchas that you have to master to make a car fly. It's not the big scientific discoveries that build civilization. By themselves, they are nothing but curiosities. What builds civilization is all the little discoveries that you make when you try to get the big ones to stop crashing and blowing up. When someone does that on a unprecedented level, you either help them, or you stay out of the way and keep your ignorant POM opinions to yourself.
I'm not an Elon hater. I'm just telling you the Honest Truth: This is a marketing stunt. The technology is quite old. Just nobody ever thought of bolting it on a car. Because it's pointless. Porsche or Ferrari could also build something like this if they wanted, but they don't, because it's not worth it for them. It's worth it for Elon though, because his entire brand is all about having the halo of futurism. His marketing scales especially well with tech gimmicks like this, which is why he is financially incentivised to do them, while others aren't. Again, I'm not hating, but actually educating yall. This is not engineering genius. It's marketing genius.

Calling technology old doesn't make its application unremarkable. Rocket propulsion existed long before SpaceX. Remember Grasshopper hopping up and down? That engineering eventually contributed to reusable rockets that now launch Starlink satellites. You're dismissing cold-gas thrusters because all you see is a car jumping. Think beyond the stunt. Collision avoidance, emergency braking, spin recovery, vehicle stabilisation, and entirely new ways of controlling a car independently of tyre traction. That's an enormous engineering frontier. And your argument that Porsche and Ferrari could do it but choose not to is pure speculation. Since when did marketing genius and engineering genius become mutually exclusive? The fact that you cannot imagine what to do with a technology doesn't make it pointless. It exposes the limits of your imagination, not the technology.

Forget collision avoidance and emergency braking. The first practical use of cold-gas thrusters is reproductive signalling. I want a car that can jump. I can impress one or two chicks.

In the Bible, God sounds suspiciously like the people writing about him. Their enemies become his enemies. Their customs become his laws. Their wars become his commands. Their prejudices become his morality. At what point do we admit that perhaps these men weren't describing God, but inventing him in their own image?

People confuse religion with the noise built around it. Most of what we call ‘religion’ is just borrowed tradition, culture, rituals, performances, a whole circus added over centuries. Strip all that away and you’re left with the claim ‘God exists.’ And once you’re holding only that claim… there’s nothing to do. The claim has no rituals, no rules, no inherited drama. It's just a statement. Everything else is the decoration humans piled on top.

If she refuses to run a DNA test, it means you’re not the biological father. If she agrees to run a DNA test, she wants to know if you’re the biological father or the other guy.

The obsession with European luxury brands has reached the point where even our dead must be buried in imitation Rolls-Royces. What a spectacular identity crisis. Imagine being so consumed by status that even your coffin has to advertise someone else's brand.

The more I think about it, the whole "God punished him because he was a crook" or "he called himself Mukuru WeMazuva" thing is basically the Bible’s storytelling formula. A king dies, God judged him. A nation loses a war, they sinned. We still do the same thing now. Sometimes a helicopter just crashes because helicopters crash.

For my Kenyan people, Vadziyi veMoto comes from the Shona saying kudziya moto wembavha: literally, warming yourself by a thief’s fire. It means benefiting from stolen wealth or corruption makes you part of the ecosystem, even if you weren’t the one who stole it. That’s where vadziyivemoto.com gets its name. @TadiwaSoko

Zimbabwe has a workmanship problem nobody wants to admit. Roads are patched like they’re temporary, panel beaters return cars with gaps you can see from across the street, window and door frames are fitted crooked, electricians improvise, builders hide mistakes under plaster. It's just, "What’s the quickest, cheapest way I can make this look finished and get paid?"

I’ve followed Shadaya long enough to know why people beef with him. He can be abrasive as hell, no doubt. But some of you use words like “attack”, “degrade” and “misogyny” like cheat codes whenever a point gets too close to home. And you see it with some of his talking points all the time. A girl can proudly say “I’m a virgin” and everyone understands why she sees that as something valuable. Then once she no longer is, suddenly any man who still values virginity is “insecure”, “controlling” or “obsessed with body count”. That switch is exactly why these conversations get so emotional.

I see people following me on here lol. I’m mostly just a man thinking out loud, questioning everything, laughing at nonsense, changing my mind when the facts change, and trying to understand this weird little existence. You are welcome.

People who choose not to have children are deeply selfish. There is nothing in life more worthy than holding your own blood.
