In 2026, we've already added:

🌐 HTTP C API for native extensions
🧱 Shader Storage Buffers in dmSDK
🛡️ Generational Game Object Handles and new Collection Resource APIs
🧊 Cubemap Render Targets and updated native rendering APIs
And in the latest 1.14.1 Beta:
🎨 New Render Item API for C++ rendering integrations
🔧 OpenAPI discovery for runtime debug services and native extensions
We're not stopping there!
Our long-term goal is to expand dmSDK to make it possible to build entire games in C++.
We're also continuing to expand the C API in dmSDK, exposing more engine functionality and laying the groundwork for integrations with other programming languages.
🌘 Lua is still the core scripting language and it's not going away, but we want to expand the possibilities of native extensions.
