Ely, Nevada, is a community where neighbors look out for one another. Our Great Basin Transmission team was pleased to contribute to this legacy with donations to the Santa’s Elves program run by Mt. Wheeler Power, which has been supporting families during the holidays for over 30 years, and CACH (Community Against Childhood Hunger), a program focused on supplementing the diets of school-aged children in the community who may experience food insecurity.

FERC Order 1000 opened electricity transmission to competition in 2011 with the goal of better outcomes for electricity consumers. 15 years later, the results are clear.
According to a 2026 R Street Institute (@RSI) analysis, competitive transmission projects deliver approximately 30% cost savings compared to incumbent utility-developed projects and have come online faster or just as fast in most major planning regions.
The case for competitive transmission has never been stronger.
