We got your back, New York!
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Several figures here aren’t federal results or NY-specific. The $472B combines US wide pledges: Micron's $250B is nationwide (NY site $100B) Anthropic's $50B covers TX and NY. The 48% murder drop is from NY's state run GIVE program (28 departments, Jan – May 2026).

I’ve officially joined the ranks of free agent DevRel affected by layoffs.
And while I’m probably supposed to be worried and panicked, I feel a sense of calm, relief, and optimism.
That said, if anyone in my network knows of any well led DevRel teams with openings, plug me 🔌
I'm a member of Tech Equity Collective. Check it out! #DevBadges

When did people start responding to “thanks” with “thanks”? I do it sometimes myself but distinctly remember a time I would say “you’re welcome”. Is it weird to say “you’re welcome” now? 🤔

If you are looking to contribute to a good, active, and deep-tech OSS project, you will find DiceDB pretty neat. We have opened many interesting, low-hanging good-first issues.
These issues are a great starting point to understand how production-grade databases are actually built. The codebase is still in its nascent stage and it is relatively easier to get started with it. So, go for it :)
github.com/dicedb/dice
by the way, DiceDB is the world's first truly real-time database with SQL-based reactivity. We are breaking down Redis and architecturally changing it to become optimized for modern hardware
- making it multi-threaded
- added SQL support
- native JSON support, and so on
If you cannot contribute patches, you can help with the reach by leaving a star on the repo and sharing this post :)
I haven’t used (or seen being used) the “:-“ punctuation since primary/elementary school. Was it just another way to write a colon? What is it even called? 🤔
Ok so we did the whole “get everyone into coding” thing now how about we do… “get everyone into Math!” 😀
