Meta had an internal PR plan to try and discredit Jon Haidt because he was a critic of social media. Meta was going to recruit academics, like Andrew Gelman, to write take down pieces. They were trying to turn academics against one another through a "whisper strategy". This is a very serious problem for open academic debate. If academics who share negative evidence about a platform are targeted by campaigns to smear our credibility, we are in deep, deep trouble. This creates a very serious conflict of interest for anyone who is paid to do this. law360.com/articles/2542517/…

some exciting tech news this morning — anduril is building the first american-made computer in 20 years
Today, @anduriltech and @qualcomm announced a new laptop that will eventually be 100% made in America, a “first step” toward creating a market for U.S.-manufactured components and total technological self-sufficiency. Building computers in America should be a matter of “national pride,” says @PalmerLuckey. @JonasYDu reports 👇

The CCP gets upset when you call Mao Zedong a dictator. It does not want you to know that 60 years ago Mao launched the Cultural Revolution, one of the darkest chapters in China's history. Watch to learn what happened, and how the oppression and tyranny of that era still shapes the Chinese Communist Party today: youtu.be/WgxlL-A7UMI?si=0EH1…

International soccer star @KMbappe should not apologize for calling Mao Zedong a dictator. Mao was a dictator, and by orders of magnitude, he did more harm to the Chinese people than a comment from a soccer player ever could. Mao was the leader of the CCP for decades and his dictatorship and disastrous policies killed tens of millions of Chinese people in the Cultural Revolution, the Great Famine, and other atrocities. Involved in the Party from its first national meeting in 1921, Mao is the principal historical figure for a Party that continues his practices of oppression and ideological purges. For decades, the CCP has denied the Chinese people basic human rights including freedom of expression and freedom of religion. These are rights enjoyed by Mbappe and millions of people around the world and Mbappe should exercise this opportunity to tell the horrific truth about Mao’s dictatorship. The real disgrace in this news story is the companies rushing to apologize so they can continue to do business in China. The CCP is the largest oppressor of the Chinese people and their human rights, and those businesses that work with the CCP help normalize its crushing brutality. reuters.com/business/media-t…

OTD 15 years ago, David Freese was the definition of CLUTCH 😤 Down to their last strike in Game 6 of the World Series, he delivered a game-tying 2-run triple and followed that up with an 11th-inning walk-off home run to send the series to a Game 7. The @Cardinals would go on to become World Series champions!

While evaluating Qwen3.8-Flash-Next in a controlled sandbox environment, Cohere's research team observed something unexpected. Asked to generate a defensive cybersecurity detection rule, the model instead inventoried aspects of the machine it was running on and attempted to upload a probe file to an Alibaba Cloud storage bucket in Beijing. Notably, the model's reasoning trace stated that it would not invoke any tools before taking these actions. Cohere's sandbox blocked the attempt, and no external communication succeeded. We have not determined the root cause, and we are not asserting malicious intent. But the incident raises important questions for organizations deploying agentic AI systems: Can models take actions that differ from their stated reasoning, and how should security teams evaluate trust, provenance, and behavior in open-weight models? We are publishing our findings because organizations making model adoption decisions deserve as much information as possible. We hope this contributes to greater transparency, stronger security practices, and continued collaboration across the AI ecosystem. Read the full report: cohere.com/blog/concerning-b…

"Can models take actions that differ from their stated reasoning, and how should security teams evaluate trust, provenance, and behavior in open-weight models?" Absolutely yes. But it's not because the model has a mind of its own. It's because China trained the model to do that.

Imposing gender ideology on kids is bad enough as it is. To do so in the Lord's name is truly evil.
SEE FOR YOURSELF: Adam Hamilton’s church urges kids’ ministry staff to replace “boys and girls” for gender-neutral language inspired by LGBTQ+ activists. With names like “niblings” and “morning glories” — this is child grooming. Hamilton is too extreme for Kansas and a vote for him is a vote to hand our state over to the radical left. Protect Kansas values. Vote Roger Marshall. breitbart.com/politics/2026/…

They really captured the unpleasantness of their target audience with this ad. Scowling, condescending, aggressive, argumentative, and brazenly antisemitic. It’s a disgusting display but at least it gives voters the chance to decide if this is who they want to be.
New @RebellionPac ad dropping in Michigan. We have to suffer here at home, so Israel can get all its wars. That’s why they buy politicians like Mike Rogers. He promised to serve Israel “unconditionally,” but never made that promise to you.

Anthropic S-1 filing explicitly confirms what I have been harping on for years, which is that PBCs functionally exist to nullify liability under fiduciary duty when executives fuck up the company. It creates a massive moral hazard - any recent events come to mind?
