ALT The submission page from the Springer Nature publisher's site. It has a basic logo up top, then asks if you need some help - contact your editor. After that is a big yellow title saying 'submit your manuscript' (reader, we did). Also some other bumpf saying they'll be in touch, and asking us to complete a short survey - really? I'm not sure I'll ever do anything ever again goodness this book writing lark is hard!

ALT A grey cat lies on its side on a worn garden table. In the background is a rhododendron bush with pink flowers and branches of hedges and ash tree. In the foreground is an aperol spritz in a large wide glass, just out of shot behind it, my partner has made a placed a gin and tonic (also with aperol - he says it is great with gin!)

ALT A rotring pen and ink drawing of an old book with a red bookmark ribbon. It is in a rough abstract style concentrating on outlining edge and colour, with text that you can ALMOST make out but not quite. Ink splot doodles and dots add texture and shade below to suggest the book is propped up on something. An old picture I drew about eleven years ago. Much loved.
