Mark Carney stood in Winnipeg and got asked a simple question. How can Canada keep spending like this when weโre already paying a billion dollars a week just in interest on the debt?
His answer? We have the strongest position of any advanced economy in the world.
A billion dollars a week. Thatโs over fifty billion a year. Every single dollar of that comes out of taxes. The same taxes people are already stretching to cover their mortgage, their insurance, and groceries.
He was talking about how we look compared to other countries. But when your own mortgage rate jumps, or when your kids end up paying for this later, thatโs real money coming out of real pockets.
