Excited to share this preprint! In 2016, Caló et al reported a gL-free envelope gH complex in CMV. We found a 3rd part of the complex— the part that likely binds receptors, show a role in entry & thanks to our collaborators, solved a cryo-EM structure 🧵 biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…
For my part, I especially want to acknowledge Lauren A. Henderson, a PhD candidate in my lab @LSUHS. She is a co-first author of the work and SERIOUSLY drove the project forward, identifying a biological role. Hugely creative. I’m learning from her!
