One thing adulthood has taught me is that I am not above anything. Homelessness, death, no job, literally anything can happen. Hence, I must never be too quick to speak over situations I’ve never found myself in. No one is above anything, not even your good actions can save.
In summary,
Be controversial.
It sells! Bad PR is still PR.
Do you all know Opeyemi Famakin?
Yes?
Good!
What do you know him for?
A food critic, right?
Well...
That's not what I want to talk about.
There was a time this same guy started claiming that nobody in the whole of Nigeria smelled better than him.
Nobody!
He bought expensive perfumes, showcased his collections, and kept talking about how good he smelled.
People dragged him.
He doubled down.
They challenged him.
He made more videos.
LOL...
And gradually...
Beyond food criticism, people started associating him with perfumes.
Today, he has built a recognisable identity around fragrances.
Now...
There's a lesson here that many entrepreneurs will never understand.
Being good at what you do is one thing.
And making the market recognise you for it is another thing entirely.
You can be the most competent person in your industry and still struggle to make sales.
Meanwhile, someone with comparable competence is making millions.
Not necessarily because he's better.
But because he understands the market cannot reward a value it doesn't know exists.
And that's why positioning is extremely important in business.
You must deliberately influence what people remember you for.
Because when a need arises, customers rarely consider every available business.
They start with the names that come to mind.
And if your name never comes to mind, your competence may never get the opportunity to compete.
So...
If you're going into any business, GO IN WITH YOUR BALLS.
Have guts.
Talk about what you do.
Showcase your competence.
Demonstrate your value.
Make bold claims you can defend.
And stop waiting for people to accidentally discover you.
But remember...
Attention is not profit.
You must be good enough to deliver on the expectations your visibility creates.
Because publicity can bring customers once.
Only value can give them a reason to return.
...
I'm The Mad Profit Guy.
If I say what I want to really say they’ll drag me so let’s keep it moving 🙌🏾
I was interviewing a young lady this morning who graduated with a Second Class Lower degree. She insisted that she was smart.
I then asked her, “If you are smart, why did you graduate with a Second Class Lower?”
She suddenly broke down in tears.
I asked her why she was crying, and she explained that she lost her mother in her first year at university and her father in her second year.
The emotional trauma affected her concentration, and she struggled to complete her education while dealing with the pain of losing both parents.
I will give her a chance to prove herself.
But this experience has left me with a troubling question:
Does our education system make adequate provisions for young people who go through such devastating experiences?
How many brilliant young people have we written off because their grades failed to reflect their true abilities, without ever asking what they went through?
The last time I had pizza I purged for 3days. I hope this doesn’t have anything to do with cheese ooooo
Gourmet Twists should drop their Abuja location and launch date already because Their PR team be doing too much at this point 😅
