So I was trying to understand why pull requests speeding up the Elixir version were being denied by the clankers while they were being accepted to Go/Express/Rust. It turns out that, not only each project had a different starting point and a different prompt, but also each project also has a different set of verifications that they are required to pass! For example, Elixir is the only guided to "preserve the pinned Rails reference behaviour", the only with a explicit verification that we are using Redis and draining its queue (so we cannot remove it while others can), and the only one actively enforcing it. So it turns out that the people telling you to not read the code cannot even use AI to set up fair benchmarks (probably because they would have to read the code in order to do that). You don't have to believe me, you can do your own research or ask your agent to do it for you. E.g. here is what Claude Code came back with: gist.github.com/josevalim/ae…
Replying to @dhh
Also extracted a separate verification project that's responsible for the benchmarking and checking of new implementations and improvements to the existing ones. The full report from the latest runs is there too. github.com/basecamp/once-cam…

To be fair you are completely crazy, but the good kind of crazy not the “ignore reality and” kind of crazy
"Have I now become your enemy by telling you the truth?" — Galatians 4:16 Reddit is coping with reality about as well as you'd expect.

There’s a snake game hidden in ChatGPT iOS… How did I miss this? 😆

I’m thinking about banning Claude code at Shopify until they change their mind and read AGENTS.md and .agents/skills etc. Insisting on only reading CLAUDE.md sometimes leads to split brain problems when different team members use different tools. Just unnecessary.

The EU Commission in Brussels has shut off airco, but only for the lower floors, where the lower ranks work: “It’s like feudalism,” a Commission official working on a lower level of the Berlaymont, granted anonymity to speak freely, told POLITICO on Friday, referring to the fact that upper floors housing commissioners got to keep their AC on. A second official agreed it was a “disgrace.” politico.eu/article/eu-commi…

“White House officials — who had heard Amodei liken the dangers of Anthropic’s technology to a nuclear bomb — were baffled when the CEO said he was unwilling to take the system down to address a known security vulnerability, the senior White House official said.”

Be Anthropic, Repeatedly cry wolf saying their AI models are too dangerous and regulators need to do something about it, before releasing them a few months later. Then being surprised when the models get an export ban...

Woot! hex.pm will now serve llms.txt for Elixir/Erlang packages if the accept header is text/markdown. If you have a package and you use ExDoc, update to the latest version (which generates .md files by default) and republish your docs.

Anthropic themselves found that vibecoding hinders SWEs ability to read, write, debug, and understand code. not only that, but AI generated code doesn’t result in a statistically significant increase in speed don’t let your managers scare you into increased productivity. show them this paper straight from Anthropic.

Sometimes Claude comes up with a 4 month plan to do some task and I'm like "Buddy, we're wrapping that up before lunch"
