Seeing the average person's reaction to animation prices explains a lot about why the industry's been struggling. Disinterested parties (including animation producers) think that if 1 second of movement costs $300, then 10 minutes must cost $150,000.
Next time you see a 2D show, look closely. Most shows are only moving for a fraction of the runtime. We have people who don't know anything about directing and budgeting an animation taking control of productions, and being shocked when they learn how much it costs. They don't dig any any deeper to learn the countless ways people have been doing this medium affordably for decades, and they don't want to know

As a Lead Animator, when I’m making decisions on who to hire for my team, I never once consider if you know “how to use AI”. It’s irrelevant and has zero bearing on who I choose. What’s important is what has always been important, and what always will be important, your ability to animate. Your core skills, creativity, technical prowess, personality and problem solving skills. Anyone can use AI, but very few people can animate well. Tools and technologies always change. It’s easy to adapt, if you have the underlying foundation. So keep focusing on learning the craft. For whatever medium you want to pursue. That’s what will get you the job.
