I started investing over 7 years ago. I started Making Money Simple nearly 6 years ago. I wrote my first ever book - which was a free ebook - nearly 5 years ago. Now, as of 26 November 2024, I am a published author. Unbelievably grateful and absolutely buzzing!

Genuinely impressive how we manage to overcomplicate every single tax, in every possible way.
Let’s welcome into the world the UK’s new 53% tax rate, for pensioners earning between Ā£12,570 and Ā£13,037:

Mate you’ve copied my tweet. Almost word for word At least tag me. Very bizarre teapaw.org/makingmsimple/status/2…
UK new minimum wage: £27,456 per year. Higher-rate tax bracket: £50,270. 1.8x difference today. It was a 5x difference in 1997.

Wait, isn’t this actually a downgrade? With the current LISA, there’s no ā€˜max’ on the bonus you can get. And it’s paid straight away, not at the end, so it has a chance to compound as well.
A welcome change to the First Time Buyers ISA due to launch in 2029. The original plans meant you only get the 25% bonus on the contribution not interest, we and many others said this was a downgrade. Now at exchange you get a 25% on everything in your account up to £20,000 (so £5,000 max bonus). #budget2026

Three government U-turns in the Budget today: 1. Cash ISA cut to Ā£12k 2. Banning transfers from Stocks ISAs to Cash ISAs 3. 22% tax on uninvested cash inside a Stocks ISA Now ALL scrapped āŒ

Genuinely is insane how the government can threaten something, scare people, then pull the plug last minute. Will see what they announce officially later today.
UNCONFIRMED: Reports in FT 2027 cash isa reduction for under 65s to £12,000 to be scrapped so it will stay at £20,000.

Bonds. Arguably the most important asset. But, what are they? And should you invest in them? If so, how? (There are 4 ways as a UK investor) All covered in my latest video šŸ‘‡ Bonds - Should You Invest? (And Exactly How UK Investors Can) youtu.be/O29qr41gZro

Watching the eclipse with a pint of Guinness and decide to open Twitter. Saw this had 1 million impressions! Nice šŸŗ
Ā£277m is an insane amount of money, But - and I’m not defending her here/don’t want to be that guy - I assume she would’ve paid 39.35% dividend tax on pretty much all of this? That’s ~Ā£110m of tax for the UK government.

Bet365 CEO Denise Coates paid herself £277,000,000 this year, and £410,000,000 in 2020. This was more than 20,000x the Minimum Wage that she paid most of her workers. The betting industry needs to be taxed, heavily.

You literally just need to invest monthly - whatever you can afford to - in a global market cap weighted index fund. Not financial advice, but got me to £200k+ invested in 9 years. ~£70k of that was market gains.
You don’t need a perfect entry point. You need a longer holding period.
