As a formerly obese person, I can say that there are many people who prefer that fat people stay fat. In part, it's for leverage. But it's also because losing the weight, especially without GLP-1s/phen fen/whatever the wonder drug of the age is, is the ultimate battle with one's self and tendencies toward addiction. And most people don't want to look into their own souls and figure out what the fatal error is. The substance, whatever it is, is immaterial. The real battle is with the traumas and ingrained patterns that drive overconsumption. And once you emerge from that, once you really conquer it, both pleasure and pain mean much less than they did before, and you might find yourself lamenting your inability to 'feel' as you did when locked into the dopamine loop.

BREAKING: The NFL has launched an investigation into the #Eagles handling of Jalen Hurts after he was allowed to play and fly with a blood clot. The NFLPA is pushing for severe punishment, with Philadelphia potentially facing the loss of multiple draft picks.

The layoffs are coming; the layoffs are coming. A new trend emerging in our workplaces is what the WSJ calls "the looming layoff." Companies like #Starbucks and #Nike are pre-announcing layoffs to Wall Street (to show they are serious about right-sizing) and to employees who instantly pivot into fear due to anxiety about being affected -- and never knowing when layoffs are coming. Seriously one of the most self-harming #leadership moves because of how it undermines employee #WellBeing. Funny, what's never mentioned are hiring freezes or other ways to preserve jobs and cut costs. #Leadership #HR #SHRM #Business

One more possible sign that AI is already impacting employment in NYC: For the first time in decades, NYers ages 22–27 with a college degree have a higher unemployment rate than those without one. How long do we wait before we start treating this as real?
