Replying to @0xdirichlet
I'm gonna argue that this was a very rational decision given the circumstances.
- CAR is a landlocked nation, sparsely populated. One of the Lowest per capita GDP's in the world, mostly agrarian
- The country has been ravaged by civil wars for the greater part of the 2000's
- Gold output has consistently decreased over the years. And about 50% of the entire Diamond trade is illegal.
- BTC has been legal tender since 2022
- Human resource is not a strength here, more than 50% of the population is illiterate.
The country needs capital and attention to drive growth in the economy and enable new kinds of jobs and opportunities.
To enable those jobs, they need literacy and education and internet and electricity and all other kinds of basic needs.
They have an opportunity to raise capital and attention simultaneously with a token. These funds can then help bring more remote gigs to locals (by investing in aforementioned needs) and kick up the economy by a notch.
Its a rational decision for this country to
a. Raise this capital and attention
b. Internally, make web3 more popular so job seekers start jumping in and looking for work.
Superteam Nigeria is doing a great job in creating earning opportunities in a hyperinflation environment.
Why shouldn't they do this and help the people?

🏠 What if owning a piece of your city's future was as easy as owning a token?
City tokens could revolutionize housing in NYC, SFO, and beyond—turning urban challenges into investment opportunities. Here's how using @mapsdotfun 👇

Disband and reform the SF police commission.
It needs to have a best and highest goal of focusing the police on the public safety of the city’s citizens above all else. That is not even in the mission at all as of today.
Temporary restraining order approved against SF Police Commissioner
On 1/14, judge approved TRO against Jesus Yanez, his wife public defender, Ilona Solomon Yanez, and the face burner, to protect Kristen. Hearing set for 2/6/25. Sheriff still needs to serve this crew.
In Nov ’24, the crew had filed a restraining order against the victim (Kristen) of Ilona’s thefts. Judge denied it. That hearing set for 2/27/25

Almost all wealth is really just stored in memes ... Even the story of ‘profits are valuable’ is really just a meme/narrative — profits are just a really widely accepted story that resolves back to supply and demand in assets.

Have been building @SwifeyAi step by step for the last eight months.
It almost feels surreal. Until a week ago our telegram group has been largely empty and deserted. It's now constantly buzzing. Telegram has warned me that I'm getting too many DMs from strangers 😂
Do keep all the feedback coming -- both good and bad.
Women participation is critical for the success of a dating app. Thanks to all the community members we made tremendous progress last few days.
We've a lot of upcoming announcements.

We’re launching a new, simple intake system to report price gouging — call @MyLA311 to report illegally hiked rents and prices.
We have no tolerance for it.

The lack of funding for critical infrastructure in LA sits against the following backdrop:
The State’s revenues are staggering yet our infrastructure is crumbling, new housing is unaffordable and nonexistent, crime is rampant, schools are mediocre and companies are fleeing in droves.
So what exactly does the cartel that runs California actually accomplish with so much of our money?
When will this stop being ok?
If this were a private company, we’d send in auditors, demand answers and fire management.

The pessimists thought technological progress would wipe out most jobs by the end of the 20th century. However, what happens over and over again is that new technologies create unexpected new forms of work, which ultimately makes the economy even bigger.

The cars roar by, a thundering fleet
Meanwhile we tiptoe on scraps of street
A sliver is ours, the rest their domain
Footsteps fade under their reign
No room for hopscotch, no room for tag
Just traffic jams & smog to gag
The public realm paved away
No place left for kids to play

I have called these types swing traders in suits before, but it seems Don Valentine was way ahead of me
"There are hundreds of so-called new-era VCs, who claim business on the Web is all about market share or eyeballs or some other hallucinations. Their orientation is to create a great investment, not a great company or a new industry. There's a better name for these investors: I call them day-trader VCs. For this group, the Internet is nothing more than a modern-day gold rush"

carl sagan's worst nightmare: america trades manufacturing for services, the public becomes complacent, leaders don't understand science and technology, pseudoscience and brainless media erode critical thinking.

Every kid in the US learns of the Great Chicago Fire (2,112 acres) in school and how modern building codes & fire depts have made this impossible, yet both the 2023 Lahaina & the current Palisades Fire crossed 17,000 acres - 8x the size!
I marked up a map of Chicago to compare.
