I started a newsletter!
I wanted a place to write medium-length content that was less ephemeral than a tweet but more conversational than a blog. I’ll cover everything from web dev and nerd stuff to family and culture. I’d be honored if you subscribed: onlygoodtakes.com
When your wife sends you something and you can’t say that you already saw it because then you’ll be in trouble for not sending it to her.
I kinda like “take a hike” as an exhortation for someone to leave because actually hiking is great for your body and your mind so really you’re wishing them the best… just… away from you.
This is also everyone who watched “You Can See Everything” talking to any other person who watched it.
The variety of interpretations is staggering. Everyone has a DIFFERENT thing they are sure a scene was saying.
What’s your favorite number between 1 and 39402006196394479212279040100143613805079739270465446667946905279627659399113263569398956308152294913554433653942642?
The security of the internet depends on this so don’t biff it.
Really embarrassing when I’m at a red light and have the radio turned up and it’s making my car audibly reverberate but it’s because Meghna Chakrabarti on NPR is going “mmm, mmmm” while some dude talks about U.S.–Canada relations.
“Wait, you’re Marissa Pagliacci?!”
I got in trouble when I was 14 for stealing third base. We were demolishing the other team and I was on second after having doubled. The pitcher was flustered and in his head. His eyes wandered and I saw an opportunity. I was basically at third before he even noticed. My coach chastised me in front of the whole team at the end of the inning. Still don’t know how I feel about it.
It was kind of a shitty thing for me to do, but also… that’s the game, and learning to deal with an overwhelming and embarrassing loss is part of why sports are so good for kids.
Listening to a YouTube video at 3× speed about how mitochondria are the powerhouse of the cell so I can release a revolutionary medical device in the next 365 days.
You probably have a short window to see “You Can See Everything” before you get spoiled because oh my god you will want to talk about it.
I’m so used to being able to talk to my computers and have them do what I want that it’s jarring when dealing with Apple
Nice HomeAssistant automation I set up at my wife’s behest: at sundown, the main living area lights dim to 40% if on, and the dimmers will limit them to 40% until sunup.
Started eating 60¢ ramen packets for dinner to see if I could handle following the financial advice I give my zoomer kids. (NOT EVERY MEAL HAS TO BE $40 AND DELICIOUS).
Outcome: I’m addicted to 60¢ ramen packets. This stuff is so dang good. 🤗
