24 hours after her seventh consecutive win and second Group 1, #WrittenTycoon’s four-year-old daughter Well Written claimed Horse of the Year honours at a glittering evening in Auckland.
Bred by Victorian breeder David Digney, and a product of her sire’s first season on the Yulong roster, the Stephen Marsh-trained mare is now set for a huge spring across the Tasman.
Will the stars align back in her native Australia?
That story is still unwritten 📝

Well Written Remains Unbeaten With Brilliant Return
New Zealand’s pin-up racehorse #WellWritten (Written Tycoon) has followed up her flawless three-year-old season with a perfect start at four, easily beating a quality field in the $400,000 Group One Proisir Plate (1400m) at Ellerslie on Saturday.
Well Written was a sale-topping $80,000 purchase by Stephen Marsh Racing and Dylan Johnson Bloodstock from @brighthillfarm's 2024 NZB National Online Yearling Sale draft. She now boasts a perfect seven-from-seven record and more than $2.84m in stakes – 35 times her purchase price.
“I’m proud, really proud,” Marsh said. “I was very nervous, because it’s hard for these four-year-old mares to take on the older horses.

Perfect Chaos (NZ) Another Black-Type NZB Graduate for Marsh and Johnson 💥
Stephen Marsh and Dylan Johnson have had an outstanding run with fillies sourced from NZB Sales, and they celebrated another new black-type winner on Saturday with Perfect Chaos (NZ) (Hello Youmzain) in the $80,000 Listed HS Dyke Wanganui Guineas (1200m).
Perfect Chaos was bred by @OaksStud, who offered her in Book 1 of Karaka 2025. @marshracing and @BloodstockDylan bought her for $50,000. Her five-start career has now produced a black-type win, four placings and $62,680 in stakes.
Saturday’s Listed success saw Perfect Chaos follow in the footsteps of other NZB-sourced stablemates that had been bought by Marsh and Johnson, such as last season’s superstar filly Well Written (Written Tycoon) and fellow stakes-winning fillies Hitabell (NZ) (Embellish), Glamour Tycoon (Written Tycoon) and Bourbon Empress (NZ) (Proisir).
“This filly’s form at two was impeccable, and she’s a filly that we didn’t pay a hell of a lot of money for,” Johnson said on Saturday. “She’s by Hello Youmzain, who’s really kicking a few goals, while she’s well-bred on her dam side. To get valuable black type in the spring of your three-year-old season is outstanding.”
