With aging, cells lose their identity and undergo a mesenchymal drift. Reversing this drift may be a way to mitigate aging and promote healthspan. A new @CellCellPress review cell.com/cell/fulltext/S0092…

Maybe this is why women scientists get eliminated from academia. I wish good luck to all my female faculty friends who are racing within their tenure clock. The system prefers and love male faculty. You have to be at least 10x better, just to survive, let alone winning.

How do mitochondria, the cell’s energy-producing organelles, perform competing metabolic processes? Segregation into distinct populations — one that makes energy-storing ATP molecules and one that does not — could explain it nature.com/articles/d41586-0…

Not only cells are heterogeneous but also mitochondria!! So lucky that I listened his talk in person at ”Multifaceted mitochondria” conference last week.
Guess what? Mitochondria are weirder than we thought

A 2022 genetic study in Science involving more than 2000 dogs suggests that, contrary to popular belief, breed alone is a poor predictor of behavior. Check out the research during #NationalPetMonth: scim.ag/78o

Friends don't let friends make bad charts! Chenxin Li, pulled together a lot of great advice for data visualization, with clear "do this, not that" examples for each item. Here are a few of my favorites, see the link below for more.

As a molecular biologist, my worst fear come true last night. 6 yo asked “how our body parts are made. Like, how do the arms and fingers know where to go?” She’s interested in developmental biology. Parents, talk to your kids about Wnt signaling before it’s too late. – at Denver, CO
