Good to hear our Covid Defense Kits for people w/cancer I sent out pre-hurricane are arriving safely.
Sent out another batch today. The Kit includes a booklet, masks, air purifiers, & tests. I think people are also just happy to be treated with dignity in difficult times.

Excited to update everyone on OpenRespirator. First step was to build the tools to make a mask. We developed a tool set which allows prototyping in silicone and co-molded plastic for $30 with one time capital cost of $4K, and of course all open-source!

The fact I am on this plane is amazing given right now. Was great to pitch clean air to so many interested parties, the tide is turning on clean air. As always, my trusty V-Flex helps reduced my inhaled dose. 23 days of travel, 5 flights, countless trains and still a NOVID.
Thank you Violet for advocating for clean air. It's not always easy to stand up and speak out when so many others want to ignore a problem. @BenAffleck sometimes the smallest acts can lead to biggest changes, I hope you can support her efforts.

Y'all masking? Day 13 of an international trip, 2 flights, 3 long train rides and I can't count how many subway/metro/tube rides. Here our simple rules.
1. Well fitting masks when indoors
2. Patio/Outdoor dining only(or takeaway)
3. Open window in hotel/apt. when there.
Another flight another V-Flex. 5 flights and 3 trains over the next weeks as we do a whirlwind visit of Europe, followed on by a week long work trip. Will jam out to @joost_kleinn Europapa for the full 7 hour flight in prep.
Bummer to not see @seppkuss race the tour, I hope you heal up. Repeat COVID infections are bad for everyone. Yearly reminder to @vismaleaseabike that the crew at @OpenAeros have the tools and knowledge to help stop illness(can't do much with the bikes 😂)

[8/9] I also have concern that based on the design, leaks that shoot air straight back might not be captured in the Gesundheit-II. Would be interesting to see that validated.
[9/9] The key take away – we have the filter technology. So it’s all about fit,fit, fit!. We also need to include fit requirements for N95’s. They are not one-size fit all, @NIOSH we need either better fitting N95’s or more access to fit testing!
[6/9] 2. Surgical masks suck in every study, including this one. They don’t do much for inhalation or exhalation. We need to ditch them, and make better products. We have the tools and tech. The sacred medical mask needs to go away, it doesn’t work!
[7/9] I hope @Don_Milton and the crew at UMD can do some paired fit testing to these studies in the future. To help answer the question – “Does inward leakage fit testing translate to outward leakage?”
[5/9] 1. N95’s are better on average because of headband requirement, but just because it’s a N95 doesn’t magically make it fit. There is no requirements in the N95 standard that define fit. If they used a crappy cup N95 the story would be “even N95’s don’t work”.
[3/9] Outward Leakage(source control) is the same inward leakage(inhalation protection). It’s all about fit + filtration. For the 13 subjects it fit well, has good filtration, and is fairly breathable(which helps reduce leaks!). Headstraps help but they are no guarantee.
