if you, as an ASL interpreter, need to speak while you sign, you need to revisit your studies and reflect on how this impacts those you interpret for. an apology might also be nice. 🙃

there is nothing wrong if this is how a deaf and/or signing person communicates, but there is something wrong with framing simcom as full access for every deaf person.

The goal for the fundraiser is probably too low. We don't know how much the cleanup will cost, because we can't even afford to get a cleaning company to come visit and assess the damage. We're also trying to recoup the money for the plumber. 13/ spot.fund/koNCse

side note, got a little emotional at seeing us spotlit for the ASL interpretation from bed. obviously a professional interpreter should not be laying down, but with how hard the Deaf community distances itself from disability, that was a little healing to see

Wild considering how many unhoused people we know WITH disabilities and/or are houseless BECAUSE OF their disabilities.

TO THOSE WHO STILL WANT TO AVOID COVID: We’re in a one-way masking world now. Therefore, it’s time to upgrade your respirators. Cloth and surgical masks (and even some KN95s and N95) simply won’t suffice. Here’s a 🧵 on some of the best masks you can get:

filled with aboslute rage at the tiny little armpit boxes interpreters are shoved into in so many news and production media. why is ASL, the language that needs people to see it to understand it, smaller than the people speaking? can't they at least be the same size?
